i love how treating white people as a race stereotype here is fine.

oh shut the fuck up, Alky. ATOT spends enough time ragging on Jews, Blacks, Asians, whatever on here all the time. Whitey gets his shot, too.

There's "American hot" and "Asian hot." You have to specify at any Asian restaurant. The hottest I had was papaya salad with 11 Thai chilies.

"American hot" = Wendy's Spicy Chicken burger.

WTF I thought they'd at LEAST pretend to be spicy.

MOST non-Asians going to eat at an Asian restaurant expect that the spicy food served is on par to their tolerance. When these inexperienced people eat the spicy food, they complain because its actually more than what they bargained for.

Most Asians going to eat at an Asian restaurant DO expect the spicy food served to be not that spicy because they are exposed to spicy foods regularly. In the event they eat something that is too spicy for their taste, they don't give a shit and suck it up.

See the dilemma that the restaurant owners have? The keyword is MOST non-Asians and not specifically targeting YOU. Generalizations FTW/FTL.

I went to a Thai place and ordered some yellow curry. They asked me how spicy. They said they could do it on a scale of 1 to 10. I told them I wanted a 10. They seemed unsure and asked "Are you sure you want it Thai hot? That's very spicy." I told them yes.

It was fuckin great.

But yeah, I get that all the time. It's so hard to get places to give me truly spicy food. I was surprised these guys did. I'll be going back there for sure.

At my local Indian place if you ask for 'hot' they ask if you want 'Indian hot' or 'Kiwi hot'.

This is the secret. Ask for food to be "Indian spicy" or "Korean Spicy" instead of "American spicy" It seems to be the universally accepted sign that you understand what you're doing in an Asian restaurant.

they aren't going to make work for themselves, they serve people all day long and sometimes stereotypes have some basis, they have probably had a couple too many folks of your kind get upset over the hotness of their food.

steak doesn't need spice!

Have you had cajun food? Far from flavorless and un-spicy.

We have a shit pile of "typical American" fare that is quite spiced and flavorful.

I love cajun food, but I don't think people think of cajun as stereotypically American food.

Like I said, those chili's are no where near as hot as a hab, as habanero's are significantly hotter. Though that does look absolutely delicious.

btw I noticed on an episode of Man vs Food, he was at a sushi place ran by a thai guy(I think) who had different levels of tuna rolls that were very hot. the 3rd from the hottest used habaneros, the 2nd hottest green thai peppers and 1st hottest bird's eye chili(red thai chili). When Adam, the host, asked if the bird's eye chili was hotter than the hab, the chef hesitated and said "yes". What kind of chef doesn't know scoville ratings for chilis?

In Santa Clara they use to have Cluck-U which had the 911 Challenge. I think the name has changed since it was Cluck-U, but you can still go in and get the same wings. The challenge was to eat twelve 911 wings in ten minutes with no napkins, no fluids, and you had to lick your fingers. Even if you finished the wings in a couple minutes, you still had to lick your fingers and sit there for the whole ten minutes not able to wipe your hands or take a drink. The sauce for the 911 wings is pure habanero.

yeah, seen that one before. i'm not about to eat super spicy food just because it's super spicy though. i happen to really enjoy these dishes and i find the hotter they are the better they taste.

My buddy is from China and we were drinking some Chinese wine. He told me white people can't handle it. Two 1/2 hrs later I was explaining to his wife why the sink smelled like puke and he was passed out on the sofa. I was eating delicious pork buns, watching CSI and continuing the process of finishing the second bottle of Chinese wine we had opened.

This other time I was drinking with a sushi chef, pouring him shots out of my bottles of soju. Guy got so drunk he had to call his wife to come in and close up the shop and drive him home lol. Great sushi and he only charged me for the booze.
so I would say your buddy regard you as a truly friend......but what kind of wine you are drinking, some Chinese guys drink"white alcohol",more than 40%of this liquid is pure alky,Chinese usually drink it in formal occasions........so,if you can drink 2kg of it and you are just allright ,I will regard you as a real man,I know a dude who drank 1kg of it ,and he stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks ,if you can drink 0.5kg of it and you are still clear-headed,we could say you're just a alcohol drinker
Drink is some kind of art .........

Around these parts you just ask for Mexican hot since they're the ones doing all the cooking anyways.

Ah yeah, we're very good friends actually. Yes it's "white alcohol", it's not really wine it's just called wine. Something about a mistranslation that stuck. Caught me off guard at first, but I'm a vodka drinker so it really wasn't anything I couldn't handle. We cleared over a litre that's for sure, one was 50% the other was 58%. Pretty gnarly stuff. He kept telling me to sip it and I kept telling him you don't sip shot glasses. His mistake was trying to keep up with me heh.

I'm just picturing bfdd in a restaurant. A pudgy white guy stumbling through the door. The rolled jowls of his face pink and flush with buckets of sweat just pouring off of him as he demands spicy food.
