You would think I might be doing the cat a favor if I "feed" it. Maybe the owners don't take care of their pets well enough...

oh wait, they roam the yards, crap everywhere, and scratch peoples cars by getting on top of them with their claws

Wow. Did you do a study and determine one second is the average period of emotional response to dog death?

How on earth can you generalize about owners of cats and dogs? Cat owners "go apesh!t" after seeing a pet being killed, and dog owners don't?

This is incredulous.

For the record, I own neither.

Yes, this was a detailed, double-blind study commissioned by the CIA. Unfortunately the information is classified and I can't give more detailed information. It's for your own safety.

Fair enough. I retract all prior arguments.

I think you've been fortunate if you haven't had a problem with your neighbor's cats. When I was younger, we had a problem in our neighborhood with a couple of cats causing minor, but noticeable problems. The main things they did would be to tear up flowerbeds(to use them as litter boxes), walk on cars leaving footprints, and a few instances of them fighting throughout the night. None of these are serious issues save the flowerbeds, but they we certainly big enough nuisences that we'd rather have the neighbors keep their cats inside.

we too have a neighbour with a "roaming" cat.
Damn cat keeps piss_ng over our plants, cars, shoes. Ive seen it and have vowed to destroy it.
I left a huge pan (40litre low pan) full of anti-freeze/radiator coolant by "mistake" outside for the past few days, apparently this can kill animals that try and drink it. oops.
Hopefully the cat be gone

PS
Changed water pump in car, had to drain coolant.

i was driving down the street once with a friend of mine who was somewhat of an animal activist (not PETA...but not very far off) i love animals as well...but not that much...anywho...so we are driving down the street and i see a cat run out and stop in the middle of the road...i 'fake' swerve like i am going to hit it, just to freak the girl out, and the damn thing darts the wrong way and gets squashed by my car...man she was so pissed...i was kind of sad cuz i didnt mean to get it...oh well...
i dont really like cats but i do recognize they need to be outside some of the time...they dont really bother me (sometimes they make my dog yappy, but its all good)

the sad thing is when armadillos get hit on the road...the poor things are tough enough to withstand a good hit...but it takes a lot out of em and they suffer to death....i cant count the times ive hit one and had to come back and finish it off :'(

So, any time a dog jumps a short fence, or breaks a gate and gets out, you won't blame somebody for shooting or poisoning the dog either?

All you people are stupid - IMO, dogs are far worse nuisances than cats. A cat will only pee on your precious car tires, the right (wrong?) dog will take you or your child's hand off.

My friend's truck got stolen. The police never caught the guys, probably because they were cats. And don't even get me started on the JFK assassination.

The strays around here cleaned out a neighbors house while they were on vacation :Q

I had a good friend of mine commit suicide by drinking a few glasses of anti-freeze. It's not a pleasant death, but in this case, it's safe for me to wish it upon you.

And why would he get banned for that? Unless you fell asleep and didn't read the whole thread, the general consesus is if the cat is on your own property, it is fair game.

So you stand there and let a cat piss on your shoes, and then you have the nerve to complain about it? Serves you right!

To those who think I'm a cruel heartless beast...

I generally don't do the things on my first watch of a cat on the property. It takes about the 3-4 time I see it as well as "vandalism" of property.

I frankly tell the owner about the problem, and some heed some don't. In the end, this isn't my animal, this isn't my responsibility, but it is on the property of another.

The world is filled with idiots and this thread is a perfect example.

WHO THE FVCK CARES IF THERE ARE CATS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

OMG they are going to rape your daughter! Oh noes!

edit: Oh and for you mother fvckers who think poisoning animals in your neighborhood is funny, I hope you enjoy it when someone comes to you house and kicks your ass. I know I would be doing just that if I ever found out. Your not only killing "that pesky cat" you fvcktard.

Ah, but you already did. Your response was that you didn't know how to respond. It would have surely been easier *not* to respond to my "ridiculous generalizations", yet you felt the need to hit that reply button and reply with a nonsensical declaration.

I bet you're one of those people who volunteers to vote on a poll and selects the option that reads: "I don't know"

i'm nonsensical? re-read your posts in this thread. then we'll see who is nonsensical

I don't see what the big deal is. Personally, I don't care for cats in the least but the three that roam around my yard don't phase me at all. It's not like they're digging up my yard or destroying my property. It's a friggin' cat for Pete's sake. Give me roaming cats ANY day over the damn squirrels that tear my rose/flower gardens all to hell.

If you are in a city/suburban setting I think it's inconsiderate to let your animals run around - they cause damage.

Stray cats like to climb on the hood of my car when it's cold out to stay warm. They scratch the s#it out of the paint with their claws. So much so that I decided to sell my newish car and get an old beater Volvo that already has a trashed exterior.

I put up with it because I live out in the country and my neighbors are farmers. I respect their work and their need to have outdoor cats. If I lived in an urban environment I'd be trapping every cat I saw on my property.

I have 2 cats, live on a suburban street, and both are indoor/outdoor cats. They come in and out frequently. I'm really not sure what kind of property damage people are saying that cats make. In all my years of owning outdoor cats, the only damage they've done is leaving dead mice/moles on the front porch.
There are a few other outdoor cats on our street too.

Our cat is indoor/outdoor. Sometimes she will sneak out and stay outside all night. We try to keep her in at night but with a 4 year old who likes to open the back door to let the dog in and out she's bound to get out on occasion despite our efforts. She's fixed and very friendly though.

We've had cats come around every now and then. I'll pet the friendly ones and let the dog out to scare off any aggressive ones. No big deal. There's no way I'd consider harming one of them though. That's just stupid.
