Why do hotdogs and their respective buns come in different size packages?

I eat my hot dog without a roll.

But sometimes I put it in the roll so the roll absorbs the greasy goodness, then I eat the roll separately.

Seriously... they're made by different companies, and both come in a variety of sizes. Buy your hot dogs 50 at a time and rolls 16 at a time at Costco and quit your pissing and moaning. You'll probably drop two dogs on the ground.

So, I figured it out, why hot dogs come in packages of ten and hot dog buns come in packages of eight. See, the thing is, life doesn't always work out according to plan so be happy with what you've got, because you can always get a hot dog.

Companies usually sell by weight. It just happens that one pound usually equals 10 hotdog or 12 buns.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I always get my hot dogs in 8-packs and my buns in 8-packs. The only thing that sucks is when one of your douche bag roommates eats a bun and then you have 7 buns and 8 hot dogs.

For some reason I find it difficult to believe that 10 hot dogs weighs the same as 12 buns.
