Why do I keep needing to provide administrator access to do anything?

Just reformatted and reinstalled a couple weeks ago. I feel like I am needing to provide administrator rights way too often, just deleting or moving folders around. I'm the only user on this PC, shouldn't I already be configured as the admin?

if you're trying to copy/rename/delete a file which is on the system folders then you will get that prompt regardless, it's normal as Microsoft thinks you shouldn't be doing anything there so it wants to make sure.

It really depends on where the file is. And there are two types of admins in Windows 7. The admin-level user account, and the true Administrator account, which is disabled by default.

Is this the same hardware you were having trouble with late last year/ early this year?

Good eye, looks like it's under "Program Files (x86)" which is in Windows nag zone.

Windows will nag you when performing certain actions, regardless of whether your account has administrator rights, to:

* Prevent you from accidentally doing something you'll regret
* Prevent installed software (mostly malware) from doing these things without user interaction

As noted above, this includes installing software or modifying pretty much any file in what Windows considers system files. This includes the Program Files and Program Files (x86) directories.

disables metro apps? that sounds like a bonus feature /
LOL! Word!

but one issue I did encounter when fully disabling UAC using that reg trick, is sometimes I would try to rename a file in C: or in C: \Windows, it would say file does not exist

that's why I stopped doing this
