Why should marijuana be against the law. It's not even addictive. I can quit whenever I want...

your bringing up a topic that i already said i agree with you about. so please drop it.

so i should be ok with coming home one day and saying "hey honey, i arrested two guys for having marijuana on them"

......while my g/f just smoked the hour before?

Well why not. You being a cop i'm sure you'll be living a hypocritical life anyways... what's one more thing to it?

You should be more worried about morality than the law, as the law should not be dictating morality - it should be the other way around.

In a perfect world, that would be true. But i'd imagine that the police force would want officers like him that don't think for themselves.

you like attacking someone personally over the net? if you're a cop you enforce the law that is written....thats the job.

have you ever had to do something at work that you knew wasnt the best thing to do but did it anyway b/c its your job?

It shouldn't be the other way around either. I don't think the OP is being a baby, but I think that this is an area where he and his girlfriend won't agree. It's time to start thinking about whether you'd rather accept it or break up.

Man, if your skin is so thin, do you really think you can handle being a cop? If you're this offended by just a few typed words, i can imagine what kind of cop you would be in real life when people actually stand up to you.

It's pathetic that smoking a naturally-occuring plant with no fatal consequences (or consequences, period) can land people in jail.

im not arguing that. im not arguing the fact alcohol is worse.........but its considered illegal.

And if you lived in Alabama back in 1999 and had a white friend who married a black girl, would you think they are doing wrong?

If not, why not?

Do you know what the word "like" means? It means he implied it, didn't say it directly.

Sorry that I don't lick the jackboot of authority rollseyes

I'll just go back to my marijuana, thank you very much

Once you become a cop I suspect it will become harder for you to look the other way around these people. Then again, I know a couple guys who are cops and I know for a fact that a couple of them have done and still do cocaine occasionally...go figure.

Yes, I would like the police to take the law into their own hands based on their own personal beliefs. Sounds like an excellent system.

I didn't get the impression that you were implying marijuana is addicting...

I think you're going to find in life that most people hate cops. If you want to be in a job where people think you're a hero, be a firefighter.

Man.. some of you guys are being way too harsh on him.

I smoke at least a couple times a week, usually, but I completely understand where you're coming from.

It sounds like you know what's up, unlike most people who have never tried smoking, or don't smoke occasionally, but you just have a moral problem with being around someone who is smoking all of the time. Face it guys--this is a lot different than hanging out with people who speed in their cars.

I think she has tried to make things work for you, and you are trying to be considerate... but sometimes you can't change the way you feel about something.

Maybe take some time to think about it and tell her how you feel. There may not be an easy way to resolve this, short of her quitting.

The problem with a lot of people is that they use the legal system as a shortcut so they don't have to think for themselves. People wrongly equate law with morality. Don't. You're cheating yourself out of a life of progressive thinking by allowing others to decide for you. Thinking for yourself is one of the most empowering things in life. All too unfortunate is that many people neglect it and go straight for the Cheetos.

mmm Cheetos

I agree with the OP. My stepson is a pothead and says.."I can quit any time I want"

The thing is he hasn't and his life is a mess. He constantly misses work, he'll blow his entire paycheck on dope over the course of a weekend. He will then stooge off his pothead buddies to carry him over to the next paycheck.

His whole life revolves around getting high, but so many in here try to say it is not destructive like booze. I told him that if I find anything drug related in this house, he is out on his ass and the locks are being changed.

So much for a cool lifestyle. Almost 22 years old, has a kid on the way and will not make the slightest attempt to grow up.
