Why do people buy movies?

Kids that watch the same thing over and over have a reason. Me, I watch movies exactly once. Once it has been spoiled, no reason to watch it.

There are dozens of movies that I've watched dozens of times. Some movies have tremendous repeat value. Fairly simple to understand. But I guess there are simple that don't understand this concept. Similar to how simple will let their jaws hit the floor when you tell them you played the single-player campaign twice (in any video game).

I bought 4 seasons of Futurama and like 6 BRDs (at less than 15 a piece and all > AVS Tier 3) since posting in this thread. Hope the OP is satisfied.

This largely sums it up.

You see, if some of you didn't live in your mother's basement, you might actually have company over sometime. And every once in a while, you might all decide to watch a movie. At that point, usually your guests get to pick a movie from your library, however big or small it is.

Also, regarding the "huge" cost of a newer television. How about the cost of going to a theater, only to not enjoy the show thanks to people talking on cell phones, inconsiderate kids, etc.

Another reason is that many movies I am interested in watching are not available for rental. A membership to Netflix is nice, but depending on the movies one wants to see, they are not available. The wait times for some movies or television series are also quite ridiculous at times. If all I did was watch television or mainstream movies, I would probably not buy many movies.

It's fvcking sad for people to buy movies. They have some kind of a hoarding mentality combined with wanting to be into a hobby so their pitiful mind comes up with buying mass produced movies instead. I really do think big movie collections are a really sad mark on one's life. Only exception is if you really think you'll watch it several times, but that is definitely not the case for most people's "libraries".
