The only reason people I know debadge their car is because they either have it heavily tuned or have a big engine, and they don't want people they will potentially race to know what's under the hood. It adds a little bit of "wow" to the opponent when you beat them, and keeps it mysterious.

I pulled the turbo badge off my caravan
I'll probably put on new ones though. The only reason I did it was because I pulled the wood paneling off and the sticker was on it.
Some people do it just because it looks cleaner/smother without them.
