alarmist eco-KOOKS take great joy in generating mass hysteria. They suffer from psychosis and the emotional agony of being liars and liberals. The two go hand in hand.

I've always felt a little forgiving to the people down south who get snow just because it's something they're not used to. Many of them have NEVER driven on snow in their entire life. They don't have snow tires or the experience to handle sliding on ice. To the people who live in the same area and complain or freak out to the same weather they get every year then yeah they're just stupid. Some people are just reactionary people and will overreact when they do. Also people are lazy and hate shoveling snow or laying down salt. It's just a hassle they'd rather do without.

I don't know why this is surprising, people are stupid lol, You get people driving like idiots and super slow even when it's just a little snow.

I actually have fun driving in the snow. But hey if I am going to need to go shopping the day of a big storm and I don't expect to need to go out otherwise I usually go shopping before the storm. But it's not a big deal, it's just like avoiding rush hour if I don't have a need to go out right then.

It is definitely strange, isn't it?
All I do is set my alarm in the morning a few mins earlier for a possible slow drive to work.
Doesn't phase me at all.

On that note about weather though, holy crap what a mild winter... Worries me for what summer will be like.

Here in Colorado people love the snow... as long as it is in the mountains. It's white gold and the ski industry is the cash cow in this state. The people who ski and ride love the sport and don't mind the drive and the ticket prices. The whiners are the commuters who are inconvenienced by traffic snarls and inexperienced drivers who impede the race to and from work.

it is a conspiracy between the grocery stores and the weather services. every time there is a "snow scare" people go nuts and buy all the toilet paper, milk and bread thinking they will be snowed in for ever judging by the amount of stuff they buy. then 2 days later when the snow has melted you see these same people in shopping again. i have always wondered what in the hell they do with all that stuff they just bought 2 days ago!!

Tell me abt it.

*groans*

As a fellow Atlantan, I can commiserate. I get the fucking panicked phone calls. First up, the father in law in Birmingham, AL, shrieking "The storms are coming!!!!! They are headed your way!!!!!!! Every fucking time a tornado or heavy rain comes in from the west, he is on the phone doing his best Jim Cantore impersonation. Then my parents call from Florida: " I see there were storms in Georgia, are you okay?" I, in my calmest voice tell my mom that Georgia is a pretty good sized state and the storms were about a hundred miles away from me. This plays out at least 4-5 times in the winter: THE SNOW IS HEADING YOUR WAY!!!!!!! and several times in the spring: THE TORNADOES ARE HEADING YOUR WAY!!!!!!

When I see my FIL calling I never answer the phone.

Peace

Oh that's not bad at all. I'd probably be driving the normal speed limit too, would just take turns slower (I only have all season tires) and stop a bit earlier which you did. Other than that, yeah that's pretty much normal driving conditions here. Visibility is great, roads don't really look that bad. No reason to freak out at all. The nice thing with the wet snow is it is easier to get off the car too, and there's usually no frost on the windchill. That helps things a lot. I see the divided highway is mostly pavement too. Definitely no reason to freak out there. Still have to watch for black ice but it does not look cold enough for that.

And OMG I would rage at that red light. WTF man, I thought some of ours ours were bad.

So yeah I'll definitely go ahead and agree with you, no reason to drive below the limit in those conditions.

And lol at the people in the ditch.

Very disappointing - maybe an inch, and it's gone now. I got up early to scrape the snow off my wife's car for her. Instead, I could have slept in.

Holy shit, maybe the forecast was off by a day or something. Went over to Hornell (Anubis territory) to do a little shopping, and was getting tossed all over the road by the high winds. On the way back right about when we reached the "highest point on I-86" (2110 ft in the middle of wide open farming areas) the winds started gusting at easily over 50 mph, visibility dropped to 100 ft, and the road vanished from all the snow that suddenly started accumulating; at least an inch on the road. Even the semis slowed down to about 55mph. By the time we reached the next exit though, the trucks were out and sanding/salting the roads.

I find Yankees tend to overexaggerate their weather issues and blow it into some huge ordeal. Every fucking year "record snow in the North East!" fuck those fucks. "WORST BLIZZARD SINCE 1958!" then the year before it was "WORST BLIZZARD SINCE 1956!". Fucking annoying shit.

And the south closes EVERYTHING when they get half an inch of snow. Last year a couple states declared a state of emergency because of a little ice.

I live in bumfuck Pennsylvania. The weather is about the only thing to get excited about.

That being said, people are extremely stupid. Every time there's a mention of snow in the forecast, the town's gas stations and grocery stores get swarmed with people... you can hardly move around the town. Do people really not have enough food and gas to last a day or two of getting snowed in?

Yeah, but it doesn't blow up the fucking media. I don't have to sift through tons of overblown bullshit to get to real news. Hell I didn't even fucking hear about that shit, but every time the weather is "abnormal" for the North East those fucking Yankees make it the biggest deal. Hell we don't even shove our fires down everyones throats as much as those fucks shove "ZOMG BIGGEST SNOW STORM BLIZZARD EVAR" every goddamn year down ours.

You do know that you are agreeing with me right?

Even though you are being a complete troll about it...

That was fun. I used to work in Kentwood/Wyoming. I was waiting to see how long it took before I realized where you were. At first I thought you were on Beltline but then I saw the hallmarks of 28th st. Was that van really trying to pass the semi on the on-ramp?

looked like two-lane on-ramp that merged into a single lane a short distance before merging with the highway.

Driver was probably uncomfortable trying to accelerate to the speed necessary to successfully get ahead of the truck before the lanes merged? Otherwise, not really sure.

It appears that you are correct.
