Why do people hate Jews?

As for the current views against them in the middle east, <sarcasm> I'm sure it has nothing at all to do with their religious state installed by the US against our own constitution, on land that didn't currently belong to them, and their own discriminating actions and views towards Muslims. </sarcasm>

ugh ok... their government is more secular then most every muslim state. they probably exude a fraction of the hatred that stews in the islamic world. all the states in the area are governments installed on land that didn't currently belong to them, and they definetly discriminate far more then israel.

if you want to be sarcastic about israel, i don't have a word for what you should be about the islamic world.

It's quite obvious here if anyone says even the smallest thing deemed anti-Israel, he is immediately branded with all sorts of bad names. How then is one supposed to answer the question "Why do people hate Jews". It's also quite obvious many people, many ethnic groups, many governments, do hate Jews.

Why don't we just turn the topic around...ask the question "Why should a non-Jew have any sort of love for the Jewish race or religion?"

Or come up with a list of nations, or other ethnic groups that love the Jewish race, religion, or the state of Israel. Or come up with a neighbor of the state of Israel that has anything other than hatred for Israel. It's a sad commentary on anybody or any country, when they are seemingly universally hated. I think I said this in another thread....For it's own well-being doesn't it seem obvious a nation should strive for, should work towards creating friendships, rather than enemies? I don't see it happening.

Some of the quotes in this thread truly disgust me. These are a people that have been collectively abused, rejected, killed and massacred over the course of 2000 years. To pin this aggregate hatred on one or two causes is ignorant and quite infantile.

I know quite a few Jewish people... they exhibit none of the arrogance that so many of you claim them to possess. I've witnessed much worse in the way of unbridled arrogance in atheists and Christians. But, at the same time, when you stereotype an entire culture/race based on the actions of a few... what do you expect?

I'm saddened that such a fascinating topic has turned into a flame-war. Oh well... it's just an internet forum.

Israel is completely surrounded by Islamic states. I do not believe you give a good example there because Islam tends to hate anything that is not itself Islamic in nature.

If your g/f wants to express hatred for a culture that treats women poorly, she should spend some time in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iran...

It is kinda rediculous to walk in on a 3000 year old tradition and decide in 2 minutes that it's anti-woman, without knowing the first thing about it. If your gf became upset w/o bothering to learn why things are done that way and just presumed on her own that its anti-woman, I question her intelligence.

OK to answer the question of "hate":

IMO humans hate/dislike another race/culture is because the lack of understanding of that particular culture. They form hate because they generalize what our governments do. Not everyone hates Americans just because we kick ass :Q ,not all Muslims hate Jews or treat their wives bad, not all Jewish people are bankers etc etc etc

It all boils up to this (regarding bluefront's religious experience), if a particular culture has different customs than you, does that justify wrong stuff? It's not like I'm saying orthodox is bad, in fact, i don't know much about it. I don't like the fact that some Koreans eat dogs, I don't like some Muslim countries being so sexist, etc. Bluefront's GF may have overreacted and started to "hate" but that's her view on that particular culture under her perspectives, who is to say that she's wrong on orthodox culture is sexist? What do we do about religions that have different/wrong practices (again, not knocking orthodox, just an example)

Because of their culture "I hate Jews because their culture is dumb."
Because of their marriage customs "I Hate Jews because they have stupid customs at their weddings."

Because they're bankers "I hate Jews because they're all bankers."
Because they are God's chosen people "I hate Jews because they consider themselves God's people."

although the individual German may not have been a bad person, most Nazis where into the whole world domination mass genocide... and although the individual Jew may just be a member of a religion, the whole of them belong to an elate organization that requires special religious practices and a birthright to be a part of.
