Why do people hate Jews?

I hate all French cause they wear blue/white striped shirts and carry baguettes under their arm, smell nasty and have moustaches! I hate all Americans cause they wear cowboy hats, boots and spores, live in trailer parks, own 500 guns and are lumberjacks! I hate all Germans cause they're German!

Oh wait... maybe not everyone is the same?

For thousands of years, Jews didn't get along well with Arabs and probably won't in the near future.
Arabs never got along with Jews and probably never will.

The events we see now with Arabs and Jews have been no different for thousand years for both cultures.

It is wonderful how the drinking age is 18 in Canada.

I guess it was like how Bluefront described the wedding, only everyone loved it, and no one seemed offended; even the non-religious people there.

And I have heard many reasons why someone might hate Bluefront, but I have yet to see anyone say why we should love him, boo hoo

Re: Getting smashed before the wedding--I've known Christians and even MORMONS(!)(obviously not practicing) who got wasted before weddings. I've also seen Indians do it, of varying religions, even some Hindus.
Getting drunk and partying down is irreligious and also unrelated to alcoholism.

Re: So-called feminist ex-gf, she's an insult to the movement which strives to bring women into equality with men. Our purpose is hardly served by hating and avoiding the people you perceive to be oppressing women, rightly or wrongly. We don't shun sub-saharan African countries that still practice female genital mutilation, we embrace them and encourage them to change.
We've learned from personal experience that hatred and ostracising is never effective in changing minds or raising consciousness.

The topic of this thread should be changed from "WHY DO PEOPLE HATE JEWS?" to something that is more to the point: "WHY ARE PEOPLE ALWAYS JEALOUS OF JEWS?"

To me it is not hatred, it is insecurity and jealousy. Just look at history and you will see people have been jealous of the Jews in every way shape and form, from their belief in one G-d to the standing that they have within their communities and the world. It is in America, and g-d bless the red, white, and blue, that everyone is free and has the freedom to do what they want.

first of all, probably 50% of the people on this board are agnostics or athiests. a good chunk are diests, and the rest you can divy up normally. many times techminded folk are that way. no where near 75% jewish by any measure. 2nd of all, your ignorance gives athiests a bad name. your not an athiest, your a moron.


3rd of all, the majority of jews are pretty much secular, only the ultra orthodox are nutty. which is why israel seems to be a copy of california more then anything else. you need to get out more lizum.

To me Judaism isn't necessarily a religion -- it is an ethnicity. In the 20th century, we, Jews, have been persecuted for our looks and culture regardless of religion or lack there of. To me "Anti-Semitism" refers to hatred of all Jews regardless of religion or citizenship. Anti-Semitism is on a greater scale. True Anti-Semites won't care what a Jew converts to, and where he or she resides (inside Israel or outside).

Hatred of Judaism the religion is of a slightly different origin and consequence to the Jewish people -- I think it falls in line with general intolerance of the beliefs of others and can be found in all religious and atheist groups, Jewish ones too. Same with hatred of Israelis. It is hatred nonetheless (Israelis like all democracies have diverse political beliefs, backgrounds, and attitude toward Palestine), but it is of a different nature -- has a political agenda aside from sheer extermination of Jews (although one is likely to produce the other).

In short, hatred toward people of Jewish origin may be based in a certain belief. But true general Anti-Semitism (like racism) has no agenda except separation and destruction of Jewish people -- in all the flavors we come in -- black jews, white jews, atheist jews, orthodox jews etc. This is what Hitler's genocide was about.

And a quick correction regarding Jewish history in Europe:

While a few Jews in big cities attained wealth and status -- they did it through the process of assimilation. The mostly religious majority resided in small segregated villages, and were very poor.
