Condi Rice would never win the GOP. Why....??? Because she is black. It's sad, but honestly she doesn't have a chance in hell. Plus, she's pro abortion. I can't imagine a worse combination for a GOP candidate.

There are few, not many. But then 90% of the black population basically has been taught that all republicans are evil. Most conservatives have no problems will minority candidates.

I know a few have been elected to congress, JC Watts is just an example. It is a shame he retired from politics. I dont much about the status of govenors or mayors. But I will bet it is more than zero for those catagories as well.

I would disagree. The pool of black republicans needs to be grown and I most conservatives dont care about the color of skin of the candidate.

Of course you'd disagree, charrison. And your reasons are like the bet you propose- losers.

Republicans can't court hidden white racist sentiment and grow a pool of black candidates at the same time, which is fundamentally what you propose. The former is the how and why of Republican dominance in the South beginning with the defection of Strom Thurmond, their use and abuse of black appointees mere tokenism. JC Watts, whom you mention, basically quit in disgust at being held up as a poster boy while being quietly ignored in real life, labelled as a whiner because he somehow thought that posterboy status would mean his white compatriots might actually listen to him... you know, even throw him a bone once in awhile...

Repub strategists aren't dumb enough to nominate Condi for anything. Once GWB is gone, she'll go on the speaking tour, write her memoirs, work for some rightwing thinktank or GOPAC, like Watts... She never was more than hired help, anyway... a servant to rather than a leader of the Cause, whether she ever realizes it or not. That's the only way blacks fit into the modern state of Republicanism.

The media has a fixation on speculating the next president, and they seem to be aiming the hype towards potential female candidates. A few months back it was about Sen. Clinton running for president, now Rice.

Rice has been pointed out by many former National Security Advisors as being one of the weakest to hold that position. Mind you, these former officials come from both sides of the aisle. Personally, I'm not impressed by her, and don't think she would have a shot in hell of winning.

Clearly the dems are hoping, really hoping, that Rice will get the rep. nomination in 08'. That is their best chance of winning. I'm pretty sure I'd get more vote than Rice in many of the southern states.

To say the GOP wouldnt support a black person is not necessarily true, Colin Powell was courted and had the GOP primary as a virtual lock

Of course many will claim that Powell isnt a "real" black person lol because they can't seem to accept the idea of the GOP having the most successful black individuals
