Pfft...if you can park a VW, you can park a KW. (that's Kay-Dubya to youse city folks)

This is the first time in my adult life that I don't own a pick-up...Gawd I miss having one, but manage to make due for MOST things with the Expedition.

Hauled a full-size washer & dryer in it ...at the same time, hauled a load of 12foot 2x12's and 4x4's last fall...BUT, it's not as convenient for hauling as a truck.

Can you still hang plastic scrotums from the bumpers or has that been banned where you are?

5% use them.
15% might use them once a year, maybe.
80% are compensating for something.

At least that's how it is here, where ca. 50% of the vehicles are halftons.

I use the bed of my truck constantly including 30 sheets of drywall in the last month.

If you ever got a quote for drywalling a room you'd know why you do it yourself.

Yeah, I tend to knock out a wall and drywall it once a month just for kicks.

OP, yeah, during the SUV boom it seems like a lot of tool-less tools who never had a single practical use for them got humongous full-sized pick-ups and clogged the streets with them.

These bozos suck every bit as much as their bleach-blond trophy wives tailgating you while talking on their cells in their Expeditions and Escalades.

But, damn, I have a lil' 4x4 S-10 as a third vehicle and I'm here to tell ou that pick-ups are fun and, when you need one, nothing is more practical. Get a used, non-gussied up one that you won't feel bad "abusing." Trust me, once you have one, the many cool uses for them find you.

You can always tell the kids who don't own homes and/or don't home improvements or buy things for their home.

My truck has helped me get all new stainless steel appliances, install hardwood floors, install tile floors, bring home tools, toys and all sorts of things. It's invaluable.

Why don't you just hire someone to do it for you? After all, ATOT is full of wealthy people who own their own businesses and thus have no time for such trivial things as Do-It-Yourself.

Seriously, how often are you buying stainless steel appliances? How often are you installing hardwood floors? Everyone I know has done it once per home they owned, and they own that home for several years. Much better to just rent a truck when you need it.

Real Americans own a pickup. Everyone knows this.

*I never understood SUV's when they have vans but hey to each his own.

Haha so true. Some of these trucks are lifted so high that I'm surprised they are even street legal. Most women know for a fact that they are compensating for something else.

Unless you need it for work and carry lumber around or something, I see no purpose to pickup trucks. They are stupid, ugly and usually the drivers are of a certain "persuasion". I see these a lot in downtown metro areas, and just am annoyed at them.

I can understand why one would want a large luxurious SUV (like an Escalade or decked out Sequoia, etc), and I fall into this camp myself. But why would you want to essentially chop the back half off and leave it open to the cold weather and snow outside? How are you going to transport people around? Doesn't make sense to me.

Try putting a snowmobile in the back of your Prius. Get back to me with how that works out for you.

Is one of the many cool uses consist of doing favors for friends/family that do not own a truck? My brother is always being asked by friends/family to help move shit...annoys the shit out of him.

I have a F350 diesel with 38's blah blah blah but It gets better mileage (25MPG) than most cars!!! Certainly better than my Lincoln and almost as much as wife Ford 500 (which is basically a new Taurus). Has nothing to do w/ da penis it's about hauling shit, towing shit etc. Normally like 80% of the time I drive a car though because you can't park anywhere.

they generally have a lot more room inside too, at least for the driver and front seat passenger.

Oh, MAN, yeah. You've gotta' get short and establish boundaries and talk early and often about the low, low $19.95 posters you've seen down at Ryder rentals.

You're getting 25mpg on 38's? You've got to be kidding.

7.3 baby. Mines old and efficient unlike the new garb. Oh and only needed a 4" sping lift in front a 1" block in rear to fit them.

Agreed.

There are plenty of people who buy trucks to use as trucks like once or twice a year, or two. They could have saved thousands by renting on the times they actually need a truck.

But again, to each their own. Some people like having a truck cause it makes them feel good. Some people like to have a GT-R even though they'll never get up to 190 MPH. Different strokes.

I would never consider buying a truck since they are pigs. I'd rather get a BMW X6 SUV that sits only 4 people, carries basically nothing, but is a massive, bad-ass, sits high on the road, sub 5 second 0-60, .9g gripping SU-motherfucking V. You guys can play with your Trucks w/ empty beds (I especially lol @ Escalade trucks).

Because the back of my Jetta still smells kinda funny after I transported a goat in it.

Sadly that's a true story.

The 7.3 is one of the best engines ever made IMHO...

I have an F250 7.3L and live in downtown LA...

It's a truth that you refer to these things being done once a lifetime, but you're looking at the small picture. It's supposed to be an accumulation of all the things you've done on that particular pickup that has saved you of what be it from transportation costs or headaches of having to use a rental system.

There has been times where I'd go; "Damn, I wish I had a pickup" and times I did not need it at all.

The real problem is probably that your personality doesn't match up with those who find it useful. Maybe they like to buy some vest with a ton of extra pockets, a hidden compartment and a mp3 player pocket or something. Sure they won't always be using every single one, but they can when its needed.

You on the other hand just prefer a simple jacket or oversized baggy one with two big pockets and it's enough for your lifestyle.

That's pretty much the gist of what I see thus far..

I think OP would have a fit if he were on a worksite where the backbone of this country is actually building things. Lots of big, strong white people of a certain persuasion and really big and dirty trucks inside and out.

you sound like an ultra right fundy propaganda ad.

oh wait....it's spidey. My comment is redundant.
