Looking for a new video card for my Gateway comp because the old one is not working very well anymore,

and I find people bidding up to $76 on a Normal Voodoo3 PCI card. When, if you check on pricewatch, you can get for $37 + s/h.

Kinda anoying when you are hoping to get old hardware for cheap, and people are still paying $100 for it.

Ignorance (is bliss?) and the thrill of the win.

Frustrating for the guy trying to get a good deal.

Auctions suck most of the time.

Thats why I stay here, the for sale trade forum has it all. Unless I need it right away then I get it new. Bidding sux.
Its funny to watch some boneheads pay $50+ more for something that I just got here.

It is a well known disease: "auction fever" that often is highly infectious; please take precautions when you are near others who exhibit symptoms of this disease.

I don't believe anyone is paying more for a hardware item that it is worth on an auction site. I believe that the seller is not getting what he wants for it and the "stupid person" that is bidding more than the item is worth is actually the seller himself!!!

I have actually gotten some items a lot cheaper on auction sites!!!!

... or an acquaintance of the bidder. But I'm certain that the fake bidders aren't set up by the auction site.

I am sure alot of people don't know where to shop for good prices, or about such places at Pricwatch, or others.

Once it says retail price is $x, then anything below that to some people would be considered a bargin.

for computer components, those buyers should have at least some pc assembly skill/knowledge,
they shouldn't be beginners, they should know/have researched the street price before bidding, I don't believe they're stupid enough to pay more at auction sites. I believe most are fake bidder to push price, some are really stupid people.

selling side it is very good..

but its anoying to search for things and find them more expensive than you could find in a store.
Like a normal 19.99 logitech mouse going for $30

As far as fake bids, I am sure this probably happens. But how effective could it be? If you bid your item $20 over what it should sell at, and no one buys, whats the use?

I like being able to search a large list of used HW for items, (unfortunetly it doesn't work that way on good old anand trader forums) but whats the use if it ends up being $100 for a $40 item?

some e-bay buyers are real dinks. I like checking out auctions. Just the other day I saw like 20 bids on a URL to get a GF3 card for $315, and the auction ended with a bid of like $305. LOL

I am gonna start selling "pictures" of GF3 cards with my $30 lexmark printer, I bet I could get rich off them
