No, my leap is plausible, logical and has not been successfully debunked. Yours is confirmed 100% grade A bullshit.

I claim injury, foul knave and demand your presence on the field of honor. Be sure to bring your sun screen and I'll bring a lance and prove upon your bloated carcass the justness of my claim. Don't expect a salute.

but what the hell is the significance of shaking someones hand?
There's a bacteria in all people that infects people's brains and hands. It transmits by skin to skin contact. It found some strange spot in people's brains that causes humans to want to shakes hands with everyone. That way it spread quickly.

People who love shaking hands a lot have worse immunity to this bacteria.

True Fact!

Since you have no concept of historical accuracy I'll show up in a tank. It's as valid to the origin of saluting as your lance is. Sabot locked and loaded.

Do a little better research and get back to me. You're off by thousands of years.

What date are you arguing or are you being a dumbass again?

It's well known that cuneiform started around 3200 BC.

And the first recorded handshake was around 500 BC:

Archaeological ruins and ancient texts show that handshaking was practiced in ancient Greece as far back as the 5th century BC; a depiction of two soldiers shaking hands can be found on part of a 5th-century BC funerary stele on display in the Pergamon Museum, Berlin and other funerary steles like the one of the 4th century BC which depicts Thraseas and his wife Euandria handshaking (see images on the right). The handshake is thought by some to have originated as a gesture of peace by demonstrating that the hand holds no weapon

So handshakes do not predate written language.

OP most men shake hands rather than run behind a building and put their penis in each other.

You probably are ok either way.

The handshake (which you should know since I have to assume you google just based on your idiotic posts) is about greeting and not stabbing someone.

Maybe you like to stab dudes....in the ass.

That was a bit harsh, don't you think?

It's you being monumentally stupid again and somehow trying to believe it's my fault.

The date you pulled out of you ass as the origin of the handshake isn't even close. That dates back to at LEAST Egyptian hieroglyphics maybe 3200 to 3500 BC and could be even older. The Egyptians then transferred to the Babylonians circa 2000BC when kings would ritually shake hands with the statue of the god Marduk as a way of gaining his power and authority to rule as his proxy on earth.

500BC? Grow a brain, like I said, you're thousands of years off.

OP, if you want your mind blown, consider that all humans make the exact same faces to express emotion. A smile is always a smile, even if it's with some tribe in New Guinea who haven't seen an outsider in hundreds or thousands of years. It's not possible for that to be a learned or culturally transmitted behavior, so why is it so universal?

On a side note, I find most people don't know how to shake hands worth a shit. Grip too soon, too hard, too soft, limp wrist, holding on too long...who raised these people?

Web to web
firm (not crushing)
two pumps
end

Whats so hard about that?

'Too soon' seems to be the modern standard. If I go to shake hands with another dude, 90% of the time they will crush my fucking hand like a douchebag. Not because they're stronger, but because they treat it like a race to apply goddamn pressure. And once they've started grinding your fingers together ('cause they didn't even wait long enough to fully grasp hands), there's not shit you can do. Aside from punching them in the face with your other hand. Which I think should be socially acceptable.

because spitting in each others face is a sign of disrespect and making out is not professional.

People hug with less reckless abandon than they shake hands. Worst case scenario with a hug, you can't figure out whether to go over or under.

Personally, I've never gone over in my life. Shoulder-hugging is for suckers.

you forgot about the part where you put your hands down your pants to fondle your private parts (out of view of the vict... person you are going to greet) so your hand is nicely funky prior to the handshake.

Still insisting on being a retard eh?

A hieroglyphic with a guy holding a hand out is NOT the same thing as shaking hands.

And if written language dates back to 3200 BC, then your initial claim of me being off "thousands of years" is WRONG even if your interpretation is correct, because you are a proven dumbass.

Read and learn something:

Shaking hands if just gross, I wish people wouldn't do it.

I see men in the bathroom at work, they don't flush, don't wash their hands, but shake hands.

Gross.

Why the shaking of hands?
I guess sniffing asses seemed a bit too doggie style.
But id bet the cave men sniffed.
I mean the dogs learned it from somewhere.
