I don't have this problem because when I hit the highway I'm the one passing everyone else, at a good pace. On the rare occasion I do see a vehicle in my rear view mirror coming up fast I do lend way. And to those on the left lane with no vehicle on the right, if I slowly edge up to you and you're still clueless then I have no choice but to pass you on my right.
On occasion I'll be in the right lane approaching the vehicle infront of me, and you on the left hand still trying to pass me going 1km faster than I am I will speed up to pass both you and the vehicle I was in front of, if you're going to take your sweet time. Especially if the vehicle on the right infront of me is a truck. Driving beside a truck on the highway, passing ever so slowly is very dangerous, so I will go out of my way to speed past you and get infront of you on the left lane.
Ricers and street racers are the minority of the issues on the road today, blown out of proportion by the media. The real culprit are everyday people like you and me. Seriously. Just look at how people drive during the morning and afternoon rush hour. Sedans, SUVs, and minivans that drive like they're on the track. Tailgating and thinking physics and the law of gravity does not apply to them. Almost everybody is putting everybody else at risk on the road.
