Slow walkers are the bane of my existence. I don't mind if you walk slow by yourself and keep to the side of the sidewalk. Usually these idiots meander back and forth like they're drunk making it difficult to go around them. Sometimes they're trying to text and walk at the same time. Either that or they walk side by side down the sidewalk making it impossible to go around them without walking into the street or the grass.

Haha, yea I know these types. I may be an ambler but I'm aware of my surroundings. However if I meander back and forth it does mean I'm drunk.

My knees and back constantly hurt from ehlers-danlos syndrome. I need to control my steps to reduce pain.

I hate it when I'm walking through a shopping center or store and some old fatty is in front of me walking at the pace of a drunk, one-legged manlet.

Do your shopping after 11pm its a way cooler crowd. Less fatties too.

I might start doing that. It's awful no matter when you go during the day. On the weekend it's packed with soccer moms and their screaming obnoxious kids. During the week they bus all the old people in from the retirement homes to do their shopping.

Most people don't even have a fucking clue. They just leave their cart in the middle of the aisle, wonder around aimlessly not paying attention to what they're doing. I always leave my cart in a non-obstructive location and then walk and get everything I need for an aisle or two and return to the cart with my stuff and then continue on. The worst is when you're following someone and they just abruptly come to a stop in the middle of the aisle to look at their list.

Fuck you asshole. Move your cart off to the side, and then look at your list.

I work in Times Square and I hate all the damn tourists that walk slow. Us Americans are too fast for them.

Actually New Yorkers walk fairly fast compared to the rest of the world, not sure how the rest of the US would stack up.

I dunno but I'm American and walk fast compared to the average person. Just gotta walk around the slower people, I don't see the problem.

I'm a slow manlet fatty and proud of it

I have a bad knee so there's nothing I can do. I'm always aware of my surroundings though and never block other people.

I'm a slow walker unless I need to get somewhere. What is more annoying when the group has decided on a certain pace but there is that one guy who likes to walk fast walking ahead of us and stops and waits occasionally. Yes I had a friend in high school who did this... He was weird.

that was my job in the army when we went on death marches. Once you got over the hump of exhaustion and pain you'd go into zombie-mode, adjust your pace to the guy in front of you and go completely blank. I'm a really fast walker so I'd set the pace high for the group and we'd all get home sooner.

Then to just make things more fun they randomally stop and you almost run into them.

I dunno why - maybe genetically wired to the mental state of "relax, we'll get there when we get there" vs "Better get to my next thing fast".

But my observation is that walking fast is a huge plus under the 'active life-style' column, and adds a lot to your natural metabolic rate. Walk fast whenever you are walking, and you'd need to worry that much less about exercising to keep fit. Rarely do I see any 'fast walker' who's on the wrong side of the 'healthy' marker.

Of course living in a large metropolis helps, because you have to walk fast to catch that bus or train !

There have been times that people have complained about my speed of walk in the office - rounding a corner, they think I'm lunging at them ; so I've learned to slow down at corners and when people are around.

Of course, driving fast does not have the same benefits; just sayin.

I think it's Newton's Fifth Law or something that when you group people together, they walk slower.

I hate when I am in an aisle at the Grocery store and some dumb dumb has their cart blocking everyone from getting past, or they have their kids running everywhere..

...or how they have their cart on one side of the aisle and walk over to the other side of the aisle to look at products... and look... and look.

It also annoys me how people have no decency when it comes to navigating a store with their huge-ass cart. If you're in a smaller aisle and you're looking to merge into the main aisle, you are supposed to yield to people in the main aisle. Honestly, it's no different than driving, but I always get people that give me the stink eye when they barge out in front of me.

THey really just need to make grocery aisles wider.

Doesn't work. My local store has tiny narrow aisles. Store farther away has aisles twice as wide. Costco has aisles that are quite wide.

No matter how wide, clueless idiots find a way to block me. They may have to turn their cart sideways and get their fat grandma to lie down and take a nap, but they'll find a way.

I'm split on my speed. I usually walk fast (often passing others on the sidewalk) but when I'm in an especially good mood I walk way slower (getting passed by most others on the sidewalk). Same way in the office: either motoring around or barely moving.

I don't seem to have that in the middle gear that most people walk at.

I'll tell my wife that the next time she complains about me (and men in general) walking ahead of her (their spouses).

Yeah, I don't get it either. She falls behind but only a certain distance and maintains that. Maybe it's genetics. Servant mode and all.

:ducks and runs for cover;

I thought it was just us. She would complain that I was walking too fast yet she had been able to maintain the distance between us. I never got too much traction with my counter argument though. (Well, if its too fast why aren't you farther behind?) I will say that after being together for 12 years she is much better. Now her family complains at her that she walks too fast

I'm not in a rush. I am making efficient use of my time.

Exactly. We walk with purpose.

My dad's wife does this, too. And she will not, under any circumstances, walk through a doorway until everyone else has gone thru, or eat until everyone else is sitting down with full plates.

I'm like a wheel. I need precession to stay upright. If I walk too slow I'll fall over.

I hate people who walk exceptionally slow, especially when walking in a small trail. I usually just pass them after a while but I always feel rude to do that, but do what I have to do.

For groceries or walmart runs, at 7pmish or later is awesome. You almost have the store to yourself. Maybe 20 people max in there spread out.

I tend to walk slow because I run marathons and am tired all the time from running too damn much. But I think that even my slow pace is faster than a lot of people's normal walking speed because I do get caught behind people sometimes and curse under my breath at their pace.

I lived in Southeast Asia for a time and you could almost always tell how long someone had been there by how fast they walked. Recently arrived Americans walked really, really fast, part of the reason they sweat so much.

In terms of world walking speed Americans are the fastest I've seen.

Slow walkers might be annoying, but the worst is when they are in a group that decides to take up the entire sidewalk. Get the fuck over to the side!

LOL or people at the mall or grocery store congregated in a random isle with all their carts, just talking. GTFO, I'm trying to buy things!

I have a crazy stride due to height. Co-worker watched me and reported that it took me 9 steps to get somewhere that took him 12 (he isn't short either, about 5'10"). Plus I'd rather spend my time being where I want to go instead of walking.
