Ignorance reigns at OT. First of all California is almost as big as the Eastern Seaboard and is as diversified. I agree that the Bay Area is too crowded, you can thank the Tech Boom and all the out of state Yuppie Scum that moved there to work. There also was an influx of S.E. Asians in the 70's that also caused part of the over crowding. Then there are the Latino immigrants but they are mostly concentrated in LA which has always sucked.

However, where I came from in Central CA it's wide open Farm Land with reasonable housing prices (reasonable for CA) and the Politics are generally Conservative to Moderate. They even have their fair share of Fund A Mental Case Evangelistic Whack Jobs so many of you Bible Belt Rubes would feel right at home there. The weather is great and your are not more than a couple of hours drive to the Mountains or the Beach.

What they don't have is an abundant of NASCAR Rednecks sh!tholes like Texas and the Deep South are known for. As for the drivers, well compared to the drivers in the North East they are excellent.

well i do have to admit i just been to the OC area (grandmother (just died a week ago) has a house there)

I would NEVER live in such an area. Way to many people. but yes i know there are some areas that are not crowded. But it seems most of the state was really crowded.

I lived for almost a year in chicago area (wheaton bear you ) and used to go to chicago quite oten, while a fun city, I can defenetely say I love San Diego (and So Cal - ghetto downtown l.a) much more, the weather, the laid back attitude, so many selling points. Sure its a good deal more expensive but jobs here are better paying too IMO

For the most part, Red Dawn is right. California is a HUGE state with a diverse population. I find that when a lot of people outside of California think of this state, they think of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Berkeley, and at the same time think the entire state is extremelly liberal. They think it's all one big city here. The truth is, there are plenty of rural areas in California, a ton of farm land, and a lot of conservative people. Drive through many parts of the central valley, northern california (redding area), and down in the mojave area, and you'll see what I'm talking about. There are a lot of parts of California with their fair share of Rednecks.

I grew up in Ohio, lived in Idaho, Utah, Colorado and Minnesota. I moved to California to become sane by reason of diversity. I grew up with a dogmatic, conservative, scared father who had big problems with honest truth and a mother who was open minded, caring and honest. I choose California for the very reasons I love my mom. Dad is OK but I feel sad for him. And I felt the same way about the people in the midwest. Most seem to be insecure outside of the drummed into their heads dogma and religion. Californians are assholes. No ifs ands or buts. We are unfriendly, dishonest, extremeley cliquey, and it goes on and on. Yes, we have great weather, lots of millionaires, lots of sports teams, beaches, and california blondes, but most of us are assholes.

And we vote yes on things like prop 71 and 63
