why do so many people seem to hate/dislike California

I don't mind California but I have a few reasons why I wouldn't live there.

1) Traffic - Long delays. Many cities in California make Boston's rush hour look like it's nothing. Many Californians aren't the best in rain and god forbid if it snowed.

2) Nature - I wouldn't miss winter but I wouldn't enjoy 100 degree days either. Many areas have earthquake risks, wildfires, and mudslides.

3) Cost of living - A house that goes for $60K here goes for $600k in California. To get it down to maybe 200k you have to live so far from a city that it would take 2+ hours to get to work every day. Groceries, gas, and many other things are also more expensive. I pay $2.099 here for a gallon of gas and I paid $1.969 last week in Chicopee, Ma.

4) People - There are more than the usual amount of rude, intolerant, and mean people out there.

The best thing about California is there are no Texans there. You also probably wouldn't like it because bad Hygiene is frowned upon by Californians

what? its a huge state, most places traffics probably no worse then any other states cities.

only some areas have lots of hot days. in the bay area atleast there weren't many 100 degree days this past year... and in coastal places like san fran its just not that hot at all. as for snow, i can see snow in 4 hours drive if i feel the need. less if i don't feel the need to ski. as for earthquakes.. last big one was what? years and years ago, and it didn't do all that much really. look at florida and the huricanes every year.. and other states get those nice floods and tornados, ice storms etc that aren't rare at all, in fact they happen all the time. mudslides? wtf are u talking about. as for wild fires, they happen in the wild, where most people don't live. and where are there no wildfires anyways.

where the f*ck did u get this? the stereotype is that ny people are rude. not cali. and if u think we are, atleast we are up front about it. in the south you backstab people with a smile on your face.

as for the guy that mentioned scientology, wtf? is it a major religion in cali? what planet are you from that you think this? and u better not be from the south(aka jesus land/cult central). gotta love religious hipocrisy. oh that guys unscientific fantasy beliefs are nuts, but mine aren't

California and New York are the two most important states in our country, bar none.

When you people describe California as hippie land I chuckle. The reason most of us are so open and accepting is because we have to be that way. When your in Socal, just take a look around yourself. You'll probably see a bunch of asians, a bunch of mexicans, maybe some blacks, and possibly some whites. You just can't get by without knowing or interacting with someone of a different race. As a result we have much less intolerance and hatred because we simply can't afford to hate others. I'm not saying racism doesn't exist here, it does, but intolerance for other cultures just isn't as prevalent.
