Why do some people not vote?

Here's a question for everyone...why do you think most politicians focus on issues that affect middle aged and elderly people?

Simple answer...they're the ones that put the politicians in office. It is a known fact to all politicians that it is not the young voters who turn out on election day. So the excuse that the politicians don't care about young people issues is BS. Why would politicians care about young people when they get put into office by a different group. Anyone who expects a poltician to not be corrupt and completely altruistic is fooling themself, and is completely discounting human nature.

Cliffs:
Don't complain about politicians not caring about you if you don't vote for them
Dont expect politicians to be better people than everyone else

Did you read what I said in a later post? Are were you too lazy. Jeez, Jay Leno says the same thing every night and you dont get all bitchy at him and call him a terrorist. If you want me to back myself up I will, I am sure I will find a lot of great facts about how Americans are lazy. Also, I said myself that I am an American, and I too am lazy.

Yeah, you proved you're stupid in that post by assuming your conclusion in your defense.

"Why don't Americans vote?"
"Because they're lazy"
"Why do you say Americans are lazy?"
"Because they don't vote"

...

There are other possible explanations for why Americans don't vote.
1. They don't care
2. They don't think their vote makes a difference
3. They don't like any of their choices
etc.

(Really, I don't care if you called Americans lazy, but I didn't like when you said you have posted more intelligent things than most people on these forums... when you only have 335 posts )

First of all, my whole Americans are lazy remark was basically a joke, much like a lot of the comments made here at ATOT. And of course your explanations are true. And when I said something about the intelligence of my posts. I didnt really mean anything by it. I didnt expect people to take it so seriously. I was kind of kidding there, but whatever, most people on here simply like to flame.

"Because they don't vote"- also, is that not a fact. Does it not kind of show laziness or apathy?
