It's a little like the difference between people who go to war and are horrified by it, and those who revel in it.
Is it? They are both sensing beings.
Why do the internet rage whenever a video of animal cruelty comes up, and then rage when we suggest the inconsistency in celebrating factory livestock.
You said a lot of dumb shit.
Yeah, as I said culls.
A certain number of hunting licenses are issued each year on multiple different species. A ton of research goes into species population by the government to determine correct population levels and how many licenses to hand out. Hunting by license is EXACTLY done to cull the population.

I don't think so, the kind of people who are against hunting argue against animal farms too, they're vegan. This is true for the group active here at least.I guess I find it silly that so many people are "ok" with supermarkets yet have somewhat strong feelings against hunting. It's not like a stockyard or commercial chicken farm is anywhere close to humane or a "happy life" for the animal. I guess ignorance is bliss.
Would venture to guess that it's a "City folk" vs "Country folk" division for the most part.
Wow... I never realised morning I hunted some buffalo this morning with my stone hand axe, instead of going with my gf to the local store for breakfast. You'd the Neolithic revolution never happened, and just the beliefs of anthropologists...
I'm guessing your ancestors were more the agriculture types :awe:Maybe I'm being very, very naive to post this on Off Topic but I just saw the headline of the guys in Mississippi killing a 700+ lbs. alligator with a crossbow. They actually have the photo of them holding it's dead body in their arms - displayed with great pride.
Recently, a guy told me a story, with great pride, of how he perfectly aimed at a deer in the right spot that once hit, the deer literally exploded. He had a big grin on his face. The insides of my stomach were turning. This is not to say I'm better in any way to this man. It's that the idea of killing an animal is so completely natural to him that it's almost scary.
Are we humans that bored that we look for ways of entertaining ourselves, or raising our self-esteem, by murdering innocent forms of life? Don't we realize that the difference between killing a deer and a human isn't that great? The deer cannot talk, has less intelligence, cannot send a man to the moon; however, it shows what kind of value humans place upon life.
I don't expect any serious replies. I'm just posting for posting's sake.
So many stupid threads now days.
I think the OP is right on with his sentiments. I think there's nothing wrong with having some compunctions about the killing, even if we make concessions to get meat.
In principle I'd probably be happier as a vegetarian; I make compromises for meat. I likely would be vegetarian if I had to kill the animals.

Eating and war are not the same thing at all.
If animals weren't meant to be murdered, they would not be made of delicious meat.
Meat tastes good YURMYYYY.
Before the advent of MSG loaded tofu, real meat was the only way to satiate the meaty taste. I bet you 100 years ago there weren't that many vegetarians because they couldn't make vegetables taste like meat. Unless in japan because of soy sauce. :awe:
