Hehe, that's one of the reasons I quit collecting comics. There was two much emphasis on "future resale value". Hey, I gotta buy all 4 covers of the "Death of Superman" issue! After awhile, it wasn't about the stories anymore -- just marketing. The whole comic book market has been down because of it. I think others got sick of it too.

I know there are lots of comics not for kids; there are many that are strictly for adults. However, this is Marvel and they are bringing back an old hero and the target market is kids. This falls into the category of kids comics like Superman, Spiderman, Batman, etc. and I think it will flop.

Just because it's Marvel doesn't mean it's for kids. They've got an entire line of crime/cop themed books (Alias and Call of Duty are the only two titles I can remember right now) which are labelled mature readers. I doubt the new book will fall under that label, but it doesn't mean they're trying to single out thirteen-year olds to buy it.

I would think the bigger obstacle they'd face isn't the fact that the Rawhide Kid is gay, it's that he's a Western hero. How popular are Westerns nowadays, for either kids or adult markets?

They already had a gay comic book character before, I cannot remember his name, but he was from the Canadian Super Hero team Alpha Flight. I seem to recall that they tried a solo series for him after he came out of the closet, but it bombed horribly.

I ain't got no problem with gays, but damn it if your big enough to chose your life, you better be able to stand and live it with its good or bads. Even if they do choose it... should be have different rights just because fundies think they are immoral?
