Grew up there?

Work? Family?

Is where you live where you plan to retire/die?

What are some pros and cons of where you live?

Do people automatically assume things about you when you tell them where you are from?

Grew up here. Moved to Colorado for college. Moved back on false promises from a previous job. Trying to move back to Colorado. Probably move back next Winter.

Pros: It's fucking hawaii.

Cons: It's fucking hawaii.

Strangely enough I've spent 3 years in both Colorado and Hawaii, and after a year in Hawaii I was done. That island fever got to me (don't have any family here, maybe that's why).

Originally I'm from Utah so Colorado was a better natural fit to me. I'll take mountains over ocean any day

Grew up there? yes

Work? Family? yes. yes.

Is where you live where you plan to retire/die? fuck. no.

What are some pros and cons of where you live? approximately every con you can think of, except those which apply only to cities. can't think of any pros.

Do people automatically assume things about you when you tell them where you are from? constantly. and they're generally correct, at least about those i grew up with and those who think that this area is even remotely acceptable for any purpose aside from testing the next nuclear bomb.

I automatically assume you're boring since you're from Ohio. Am I correct?

You'd have to ask those who know me IRL whether or not I'm boring, since I would obviously not be a reliable source for the answer to that question.

Everyone around me, however, is most certainly boring to no end.

Moved here almost 25 years ago, no family nearby. Born Boise, Idaho. Grew up in Spokane, WA and moved here (Brookings, OR) because I love the ocean and hate snow and ice. Looking out the window and seeing the ocean is nice.

It's a great place if you ride a motorcycle, Highway 101 is a great cruise. Same with the coastal range.

Work

Pros: Friendly people, does not get that cold, money to be made, good food, close to my family

Cons: Just not a pretty city or surrounding area, has lots of refineries and chemical plants. Weather stinks during summer

I am not sure if I plan on staying here for the long haul, I have not lived here long enough. As of right now I would still like to move back to Dallas, I lived in Austin for a while and it just did not mesh with me.

We had never been here before we packed up and moved here from California. We're both from the other side of the state and have been to the Puget Sound area...just never to the peninsula.

We're retired and neither of us work...we just wanted the fuck out of NorCal...25 years was enough.

We have some friends who live here that have been lobbying for us to move here...we were supposed to visit to check it out a few months before we moved...but it didn't work out at the time...so we sold off most of our stuff, loaded the rest into a 26' U-Haul truck and moved.

Overall, we like it here. (although it does get a bit colder than I like during the winter...it even snows here on occasion. ) Mild summers, mild, rainy winters, low crime rate (by comparison to CA), close to the mountains and the ocean...far enough from Seattle than we don't have any of the big city hassles...yet close enough to visit if we want. (it's more like living in a forest than a town of about 50,000. (two small cities/town grown together) Trees, trees, trees...with a sliver of salty water dividing the area.

Grew up there? No

Work? Family? Family

Is where you live where you plan to retire/die? I hope not

What are some pros and cons of where you live? Three seasons, can be cold as fuck, Libtards, pot heads, skiing. Wide open spaces

Do people automatically assume things about you when you tell them where you are from? I have no idea

I lived in North Dakota about 30 miles south of the Canadian border. Lived In California. Lived in Utah for a year. Currently live in Colorado.

Grew up there? Yes

Work? Family? Both

Is where you live where you plan to retire/die? Hard to say at this point but probably in this general area.

What are some pros and cons of where you live? The big pro is that it is cheap to live here. The biggest con is the weather.

Do people automatically assume things about you when you tell them where you are from? People make fun of "flyover" country all the time, but I just roll my eyes and laugh when I compare how I live compared to how they live in most cases.

Is where you live where you plan to retire/die? Depends on where my kids end up. Will probably follow them to be close many many years from now. Somebody will have to change my diaper when I'm old.

What are some pros and cons of where you live?

Pros: lots of good vacationing within a few hours of driving. Close to lots of water if I decide to take up boating.

Cons: Weather, if you don't like four seasons. Good food choices but not conveniently located. More traffic/population density than I prefer. MI roads SUCK!

Do people automatically assume things about you when you tell them where you are from? I must collect welfare while living in a post apocalyptic, crime ridden hell hole since it's near Detroit.

Grew up here, family is here - moved back here from Northern Virginia/DC to be closer to family and for a change of pace/lifestyle. Don't see us moving anywhere else unless we strike it rich and decide to retire to a Caribbean island.

CT here. Moved here in HS with family. Too poor to move out now :awe:

Pros:
No real natural disasters, just a few bad snowstorms a year where you stay home for a day
Quick access to Boston & NYC, without actually having to live there
Lots of historical & art history stuff, if you're into that
Maine & Canada are only half a day's drive for quick vacation trips
Tons of cool B&B's in the NE area for overnight & weekend stays
Beautiful fall foilage & lots of cool pick-your-own farms with delicious pies & fruit
4 full seasons, so you can have a nice summer & then go sledding in the winter

Cons:
No good fast-food restaurants (they just barely built our first Chik-fil-a)
Crazy expensive to live here
Tax on everything up the wazoo: food, cars, housing, etc. (even leased cars!)
Crummy roads full of potholes (despite high taxes)
People are generally pretty cold here (closed-off), not nearly as open as people in the south
Not really a super ton of things to do if you're younger
Beaches are terrible. Bathwater with no waves.
Both parents generally have to work to sustain a good income to live here comfortably
Ticks & lyme disease

People automatically think you're rich & liberal if you live in Connecticut. Really, it's just like anywhere else, just with a higher percentage of older rich people. Plus, the flip side of having really rich areas is having really poor areas nearby with lots of crime & apathetic attitudes. Just ask any ATOT'er who lives in New Haven how much fun it is to walk around at night

If I was making bank & only had to work 40 hours a week, it'd be an awesome place to live since you'd have the free time to enjoy all of the fun (and expensive) stuff in the area. One thing I do really like is the lack of natural disasters. We avoid the bulk of the earthquakes, tornados, and hurricanes (minus the oddball visits of each over the last few years), the only real natural disaster is how stupid expensive it is to live here. I like having seasons, not having alligators in the ponds (people actually swim in lakes here, it's crazy!), being within driving distances to lots of different states that all have their own unique offerings, etc.

Yes

Both. In my industry, jobs are either in Toronto or Vancouver, and I'm not moving to Vancouver. Outside the beautiful scenery, Van is an overpriced, crime ridden dump.

Is where you live where you plan to retire/die?
Hell no. Wouldn't mind going somewhere with a nice beach, or a quiet cottage on the east coast.

What are some pros and cons of where you live?
Pros: Lots of good vacation spots near by, close to amenities, close to where the work is.

Cons: Cost of living has gone through the roof in the last ten years, job market for my industry has basically imploded, horrendous traffic and crumbling infrastructure, an it's gotten too populated for my liking. T-dotters (city folk) are rude.

Do people automatically assume things about you when you tell them where you are from?
People from Toronto are considered arrogant and rude by other Canadians. Centre of the universe and what not. Us in the outlying communities surrounding the city feel the same way but still get lumped in with them.

Toronto. For work/money. Moved here last August for work and will probably stay here until my current employment agreement expires, which is July 2016. Not a fan of this city so far; don't really know anybody here, it's obnoxiously busy, and the weather is awful. Blah.

Hands down the weather and best climate in the world, San Diego, California.

Oh man, I lived there as a kid, I'd love to move back! The best place I've ever lived for sure
