aside from their questionable buisness practices and treatment of employees, their stores are soul-sucking pits of death filled with mothers toting their 400 screaming spawn. so no, i try to avoid wal-marts.

Umm,lets see..all the Walton family members are worth $20 BILLION each yet love to watch their own employee's struggle at minimum wage. The CEO of Walmart received a compensation package that was about $23 MILLION for 2003,yet they figure $5.15 per hour is plenty for their em.."assiociates". Any employee that even discusses a union is quickly let go. One woman who tried to get associates interested in joining a union was quickly fired when em...stolen items were found in her locker--yeah sure Walmart.

They love to play morality cop. They pulled Flight Simulator 2000 off the shelves in the days following 9/11 figuring a terrorist will give it up if they can't plot their next attack by playing FS on a computer.

They called Police in Salina,Ks and had a woman handcuffed and hauled to a back office after picking up pictures from their photo lab and accusing her of having pictures of kiddy porn and being a pedafile. Never mind that the pictures were of her OWN SMALL CHILDREN in their bathtub but the kids were WITH HER in the store. Big,big freakin mistake on Wallyworlds part, the ladies husband is an Lawyer. Needless to say the handcuffs came off quickly and a settlement was quickly and QUIETLY reached.

Screw Walmart,I'll drive to the Target store and never think twice. I haven't set foot in a Walmart in YEARS.

Yeah the Scott tissue, Motorcraft oil filters, Bic pens, Columbia DVDs, Haynes underwear, Canon digital cameras, Dial soap... are all so inferior to the same items sold at Costco.
You have a point, but... I can get those same items at a cleaner and friendlier Costco store for the same or better price. And Costco is much closer and more convenient to me.

You're taking my words out of context anyway. Perhaps you should re-read my entire post?
God I hate the three page nested quote BS, and now you're going to make me do the same stupid shlt:

I don't.

The primary reason for me is that the nearest Wal-Mart is cross-town and about 10 miles away. But even if there were one closer, I would not shop there because during the rare times that I have visited a Wal-Mart, I have found that: (1) their prices are not that special, (2) the quality of their merchandise is sub-par (which ruins any possible appeal of their moderately low prices),

They sell the same name brand crap as anybody else. Manufactureres don't make special products just to be sold at Walmart.

(3) their customer service is absolutely horrid, (4) their stores are filthy, and (5) the very size of their stores and their parking lots makes shopping there inconvenient.

Target & Walmart are absolutely identical around here. Same employees, same merchandise, and same customer service, which is nil, and I don't expect any at those prices.

If you live in and around the Portland area and need cheap groceries, then Winco Foods' prices are cheaper than Wal-Mart's by far.

I shop for 80% of my groceries at Aldi's, but who cares?

If you live anywhere in the US, then my experience is that Costco > Target > Wal-Mart.

Here's a tip for all the "consumers" here. If getting a low price is far more important to you than getting a quality product, then you are either: setting yourself up to spend more in the long run (more frequent replacement), or you are buying something you really don't need or want anyway (and should really reconsider your purchase).

hmm then maybe you should re-write it?

wal-mart does not have less quility products. they are NO diffrent from any other store. they do not get the company's to make a special product just for them under the same brand.

Now if you want to shop someplace else more power to you. but the argument you are giving for NOT shopping there is silly. there is no diffrence in products.

Sorry, but you're wrong about that. With its large market share, Wal-Mart exerts tremendous pull on its suppliers, including the ability to dictate price and quality. A large percentage of the goods Wal-Mart sells are available only at Wal-Marts. This is heavily documented, so you can research it yourself.

But hey, just to satisfy you, I'll take that particular reason out of the reasons I don't shop at Wal-Mart. But that still leaves the reasons that their nearest store to me is cross-town, their prices aren't that great IMO, their service is worse than Fry's, their stores that I have been to are filthy, and the very size of their stores and parking lots makes them inconvenient (unless I suppose you were doing a month's shopping all at once, but I certainly wouldn't want to pop by one everyday)

Happy now? I guess I should run to my nearest Wal-Mart right now (in cross-town rush-hour traffic).

If you'll notice in my first post, I didn't concern myself with how far YOU have to drive to get there. YOU'RE the one who considered that to be an important part of the context, NOT me.

The items I listed are NOT created especially for Walmart. If I want a case of oil, toothpaste, music CD, or No.2 pencils, it's the same damn thing sold at Kmart, Target or the local drug store only cheaper, or at least the same price.
