Why does 290/x best 780ti in multicard setups?

SeaSonic X-1250 and EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 look like solid picks to me. However going with four top end cards like that you would probably be best off using two power supplies and plugging them into different circuits. ;p

Before the sli driver profiles will be ready scaling at 290 is at 90% and mantle drivers is out. Then nv dont have the fastest single card anymore. But probably still the best blower. Lol.

For the 290(X), yes. For all their other cards, AMD still needs work.

The R9 290X and R9 290 do very well at multi monitor and 4K with multi GPU because of 2 factors

1.) better CF scaling
2.) better performance even as a single GPU at 4k and multi monitor because of the 512 bit memory bus and 64 ROPs

i am waiting for custom R9 290 cards to give the higher up cards a run for their money. you will see a lot of people pick two custom R9 290 cards for USD 850 - 900 instead of dropping USD 750 - 800 on a classy 780 ti or lightning 780 ti.
