Why does 80's music get such a bad rap?

A lot of my favorite 80's songs are from "one-hit wonder" artists/groups.

There was A LOT of good music in the 80's, but like other eras, there was a lot of bad music too.

IMO, the 80's was the last decade to have any kind of songwriting talent.

80's had some amazing metal coming out. The birth of power metal is rooted in the 80's.

The 90's I think were the worst decade for music.

The 80's get a "bad rap" because it was the first decade of video. Interesting and unique videos with crappy music got as much attention as good music with bad videos.

It's only gotten worse since, IMHO.

There are WAY too many people using apostrophes incorrectly in this thread. It's '80s because the 19 was left off. Even with the 19, we are talking about the years (plural) that make up the decade, but apostrophes NEVER pluralize, ever! The year's that make up the 1980's? TPAD.

OK, that explains why I don't mind when people leave the apostrophe denoting the missing prefix off, but that still doesn't explain the extra apostrophe.

Pontifex is doing it right but I suspect that's because he used no punctuation.

This is not new.

You need the "extra" comma to indicate that you're providing a list.

I was always taught that it was optional but you needed to be consistent in the same document until I a professor took off points in a college English course for not using it. I was completely blind-sided by that.

This is not new.

You need the "extra" comma to indicate that you're providing a list.

But a list of only two items still doesn't need it.
