Depending on the environment and local political climate, The Police may not be "available" to help "serve and protect" you. YOUR DEFENSE IS YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY. The police are not EVER going to be able to take on that responsibility. Nor do they "want" to. If the amount of crime were reduced to a certain level, the NEED for police will correspondingly reach a point of being unnecessary. Some out of work cops would invariably do the same things that out of work firemen have done. To wit: create their own "need".

the right to carry arm is so that incase of an emergency a civilian milita can be assembeled. This includes government overthrowing

A bunch of civilians with guns would have absolutly no hope of overthrowing the government.

lol tell that to George Washington back in 1775.

I'm not talking about 1775
It doesn't matter. SOME right thinking military personel will invariably refuse these unlawful orders. Not every grunt is an unthinking automoton.

We don't need guns nor should have guns. The US is a backwards country run by trigger happy cowboys that need to bully other countries to feel good about their fat lazy selves.

I never want a gun, because I might use it in a heated arguement or something of the sorts.

Does a gun make you feel safer? I think about all the times I wish I had been carrying a gun in my life, and they total 0. I don't think we need to outlaw guns or anything... I think guns are awesome, fun to shoot, etc... But why would you need to carry one on a daily basis?

It seems to me like "I need one for protection" pretty much is just an excuse to justify the purchase of a new toy. Anybody else feel this way?

Inspired by the guy taking a dump on The Constitution quoted above...

Does freedom of speech make you feel safer? I think about all the times I wish I had freedom of speech in my life, and they total 0. I don't think we need to outlaw freedom of speech or anything... I think freedom of speech is awesome, fun to speak your mind, etc... But why would you need freedom of speech on a daily basis?

It seems to me like "I need freedom of speech" pretty much is just an excuse to justify saying what you feel. Anybody else feel this way?

Freedom of speech does make me feel safer.

Cause a man has a right to protect himself, his family, and his property. And no lawman is going to take that away from us.

Let's say someone has a gun pointed at you and you are carrying a pistol. How does the scenario play out in your head?

Of course you'll surrender. Not going to take that chance.

That's not a scenerio, it's a minimal statement. Who's with us and around us, where are we, what's the distance, why is the gun pointed at me, what happened leading up to that moment, what am I carrying, where am I carrying...I could go on if you'd like. The point is there are a near infinite number of variables in every situation. You can prepare somewhat, but each situation requires split-second decision making.

Generally speaking, the first gun out wins. That means you go along with whatever they say...unless/until you have an opportunity that's reasonable. The goal is to NOT be the second one to draw.

Better to not need it and have it than not have it and need it.

I understand that statement, but at least in my case, the cost of carrying a gun on my person over decades waiting for such a moment to arise aren't really worth it.

thats a stupid comment.
you don't carry a gun waiting for the moment to use it. you carry it in case you need it. you act like people who carry are out looking for people to attack them just so they can shoot them.

I find it amusing all these people that think their gun is going to save them when they are personally held up. It's like they think they can draw out their gun from it's concealed location while someone has a gun lined up right at them.

A whole bunch of Doc Holidays!

Those people are soo proud that they can't stand the embarrassment of being held up by a violent middle school dropout that they would put their life and their companions lives at risk.

What are the odds that you'll be killed if you just hand over your purse or wallet? I'll bet they are very low.

Lets guess that its less than 1% chance of death. So the ones with too much pride are going to dig around for their weapon hoping beyond the odds that they can draw that gun fast than someone can pull the trigger in their own defense.

I just hope the victims didn't have children yet.
