why does everyone hate Abit?

I am not sure if it is my system or my motherboard but when I play an mp3 while I am online I get some distortions in my music. It sounds as if the mp3 were "skipping". Anyone else have this problem?

Twice lucky then. First a BH6, now a KT7. Both problem-free.

Both Asus and Abit is great companies, and both makes the best boards you can buy for money. Both also makes boards with flawes from time to time, but they have a great support in updating the BIOS, but Asus seems to be a bit faster regarding the BIOS.

Used a BH6 and now uses a BF6...I am very satisfied with Abit.

I actually had quite a pleasant experience with an Abit RMA. My BH6 up and fried itself this summer, and it was just barely over a year old. They said that they'd replace it no problem, even though it was technically no longer under warrantee (if even by only a week or two). I showed them the order from the online shop where I bought the board (along with a copy of the credit card bill where I was actually charged), and they waived the $25 RMA charge.

Heck, they accepted the order form as an invoice even though it actually said Bx6-2 (the shop screwed up and sent me a bh-6 by mistake, and I didn't want to go through the hassle to try to return everything).

Yeah, it always helps to get a wider perspective.

From an educated buyer's standpoint, AMD is doing phenomenal right now. In fact, thinking back, the only time in the past decade when AMD hasn't offered better value was the brief Mendoccino Celeron heyday. It's too bad their relative business position with Intel still doesn't reflect that.

It will be really interesting to see how the Pentium IV / Mustang battle plays out. It looks like Intel is hoping to ramp MHz through the roof while letting actual performance take a back seat -- an approach that is great from a marketting standpoint. AMD will have to work really hard to prove their price/performance superiority to the average consumer.

WEll after two bum bh6's in a row and a third later on i'm pretty much fed up with abit. TO their defense i did make three computers with a kt7 and no problems. Hmm maybe just a problem with the bh6.
