Hector Berlioz is the greatest man to every come out of France...and he hated a lot of the French Arts....rightfully so.

It would be cool to go to Europe because that's where my ancestors are from...and what the United States was founded from. However...Europeans seem a little too smug for me...I might not want to visit.

In my opinion the most snobby, pretentious, and obnoxious people in the world are the Americans and the French. You'd think there'd be a sense of brotherhood there, but instead Americans are insistant on vying with France for the number one spot.

There's some truth to this..

Snobbishness comes from refined taste and you'll see much more refinement in Europe than in the US. If you're humble, the snobby part won't show through.

Being an American and having travelled the world, American tourists "generally" have a smug, arrogant, loud, classless attitude who can't dress worth a sh!t where they think they can simply show up and have the run of the place simply by flashing green. Not all Americans are like this of course, but a enough of a sample size to generalize. Americans are the most generous tippers though.

If you take time to attempt to speak in the native tongue, people will open much more. Lack of understanding comes from lack of communication.

whenever i went to paris, they were snobby and didn't like the fact that i didn't know how to speak french and they had to cater to that.... how's that any different than how we are?

also, i can completely empathize with the notion that they believe americanization is raping/overtaking french culture.

Because every Frenchman I've encountered so far has been ignorant, snobby, and rude.
They'll hate on you, even in an online game, just because you're an American. I guess they just can't accept that their is a country in the world far more powerful, and just overall better, than theirs.
