why does it only hurt after the fact?

2 other guys and I spent pretty much all day yesterday installing raised flooring in the server room of the new noc my company is setting up... everything was all well and good. I was tired as hell and in need of a good shower, but otherwise OK.

then I go to sleep and wake up 8 hours later... now my entire body hurts and I don't even want to move. lol. why does it take so long for the real pain to set in?

I usually feel it the day after the next.

E.g. Work out at night. Feel fine the next day. Lots of pain the next day after that.
