Why Does My Wireless Router Continuously Lose Connection???

This is driving me crazy. I'm on my second wireless router. First was Netgear, this one is Belkin N1.

They both lose their connections (to my Sprint DSL modem) daily, and I need to unplug it to reboot it and then the connection is reestablished and all is fine.

I have tried using a UPS to ensure it wasn't power glitches...same issue.

Anybody have any idea what the problem can be? Is this "normal"?

it could be your modem? try hooking it up to your computer and see if the results are the same.,

This is my second Sprint DSL modem as well. Also, I need to clarify...I can connect to the wireless router (i.e.: with my laptop), but I can't get on-line with the laptop unless I reset the wireless router.

So the wireless router continuously allows connection to the wireless network, but it loses connection to the Sprint DSL modem. Resetting the wireless router fixes the problem...and there is no need to reset the Sprint DSL modem.

Whats your network card on your laptop? There are some that continously lose connection for a short period of time/

i'm losing connectivity when i use my wireless, too. the router has been replaced with the linksys 54g (i use to have the b one). modem and new linksys works fine on my brother's laptop and my pda.

could it be my internal network card? ethernet hook up is fine with my laptop. laptop also notes that the wireless adapter is working properly. i have the internal Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B that came with the laptop when i purchased it.

It's not the laptop. There are indicator lights on my Belkim N1 wireless router. There is one for "Internet", and it goes out when I lose connectivity (about once every other day).

Sorry, but how would I go about changing the wireless channel on a Belkin N1 wireless router?

If you are running a bittorrent client the overwhelming # of connections can cause this, reduce max # in your client or router (if possible).

Refer to your routers support page for settings and perhaps a firmware upgrade.

Does your isp use PPPoE? Have you checked the "Disconnect after X minutes" box?
