Why does Trump get so exercised over black athletes peacefully protesting vs white nationalists?

Funny I never heard Trump say anything about this being a racial issue.

Typical liberal identity politics. Never look at something on its own merit, always throw race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. into the mix to confuse the issue.

The only color the NFL sees is green. I was listening to conservative talk radio this morning and there were all kinds of irate callers swearing they were done with the NFL. Whenever you bring political speech into a sporting event you are going to piss off a certain percentage of your audience. That is going to translate into lost revenue for your organization.

The anthem protests, which began with former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and have now spread throughout the league, already appear to be affecting NFL ratings. Last week, with the 2017 season barely started, ratings were down a stunning 15% year over year, according to the Hollywood Reporter – and that’s after an 8% slide last year.

Wait, you have Trump trying to make a protest about police violence into an issue about being mean to the national anthem and then complaining that OTHER people are trying to confuse the issue? Hahaha.

You realize that Trump has a long, documented history of extreme racism. Right?

Those people don't really know why they are mad. In reality as stated earlier they hate it when black people protest.

The fucking POTUS is tweeting like 20 times a day and talking about why the NFL ratings are down.

Just think about that and let it sink in.

Trump just got Colin Kaepernick rehired. Kaepernick went from untouchable outcast to hero over the weekend. Now the owners won't have to worry about the backlash of adding Kaepernick to the roster. I expect some team to sign Kaepernick within a week or two.

Isn't there a big basketball fan that lives in DC. Obama should invite them over for a BBQ with live tweets from players about what an honor it is to be here.

I suggested Currty etc all just fly to DC and take a tour of the White House like normal people do.

See, he's reducing unemployment! One person at a time.

He needs to make a new enemy to fight in order to distract from his (accumulating) failures and fire up his base. Successful black people are pretty much as good as it gets for him now that Hillary is out of the picture.

My estimation of Kim Jong Un moved up a notch when he used the word "dotard".

There was a Trump supporter on FB comments laughing at Un's horrible English -- that "dotard" wasn't even a word.
I tried to explain it to him. He refused to listen.

Response from Robert Kraft owner of NE Patriots. Surprised coming from him

Same guy that donated $1M to his campaign. Fuck Kraft -- he helped put Trump in office. If you couldn't see he was a complete asshole BEFORE the election cycle, you don't get to cry now when he's affecting your business.

Yeah I have no patience for the people who voted for/donated to Trump during the election and are now looking his insane behavior and clutching their pearls. Trump is acting exactly the same now as he did during the campaign, and for his entire public life. If you didn't see this coming you're either intentionally blinding yourself or you're an idiot.

I agree with Governor Cuomo. More importance things to concern about - https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/24/new...rto-rico-relief-says-put-divisions-aside.html

I think most sane people agree there are more important things to worry about.
What SHOULD be done in regards to players taking a knee etc (before this current weekend and certainly now after) is some sort of dialogue opened between parties to discuss what the issues are and what can be done.

You know what shouldn't be done? Putting up another wall between the citizens and the government by calling peaceful protesters "SOBs", or directly attacking business (NFL) calling for the public to boycott them. You would think the self-proclaimed "great negotiator" would understand the 1st step to negotiation is bringing parties together to talk -- not to just bully one side or the other.

Trump is not, and has never done ANYTHING to put out fires. He continuously fans the flames of any conflict - domestic or foreign - that the US is facing.

Isn't it wonderful to have such a classy POTUS who looks out for the entire country not just his 30% white base. /s

I’m still trying to figure out what way black people are allowed to protest without enraging conservatives.

When black people were protesting in the streets and it sometimes turned violent we were told that conservatives don’t mind black protests, they just mind violent protests. When black people protest by kneeling during the anthem, literally about the least violent protest you could possibly imagine, conservatives are incandescent with rage, call for them to be fired, etc.

At some point we need to accept the fact that the problem conservatives have with black people protesting is that they don’t like black people protesting.
The absolute truth is what you said minus two words:

The problem conservatives have with black people is that they don’t like black people.

I don't doubt that.

Consider this from a different angle. Should NFL players be allowed to take a knee over their opposition to legalized abortion, or to express their opposition to the death penalty, or to the ban on teaching creationism in public school, or to oppose American butchery in the Middle East, etc....

Is this the ONLY political issue NFL players should be allowed to take a knee for? If yes, why? If not, what other political issues should they be allowed to take a knee for?

The NFL is currently allowing these protests because they don't believe they will hurt their bottom line. That remains to be seen. Would have been nice if Trump could have kept his mouth shut.

lol, the reality is that Trump's "declarations" are the exact kind of thing that 3rd world despots declare, and his views and those of his supporters are expressly those supported by the very same type of minority parties that rule over such 3rd world shitholes.

This is anything but First World Problems, Paco. This is very much Despotism raising its ugly fucking head and pounding it into your face.

Yeah I don't understand why so many organizations are pulling this political BS into every aspect of life. I, for one, have completely boycotted BSPN since they decided to turn into a "social justice" (lol) network.

They should be able to take a knee for any reason and for no reason. If people are genuinely watching the NFL only so far as no players kneel during the national anthem then they weren't going to be watching much longer anyway.

Conservatives hate it when black people protest things. You will never find a case of black people protesting where conservatives aren't criticizing it, usually by saying 'if only they had protested by doing Y instead of X, then it would have been fine'. Every time, no matter what they do.

I have no problem with the initial protest or calling it unpatriotic. Of course the NFL was only going to act in their interest out of it. If Kapernick was a better player, things would have been different.

Trump's Twitter wars, however, are ridiculous and childish and comically far from anything relating to the office of President. Republicans should be telling Trump: "dude, WTF, let it go". Not that it would work, but it's disturbing how far people will stretch their sense of reasonable behavior to hold the image of a legit Trump presidency together.
