Why does windows suck so bad with multi monitors?

Nothing has ever frustrated me more than dealing with more than 2 monitors in windows. It sucks so bad at handling it, especially if you change the configuration.

Why is it so retarded that it will actually try to open a window on a monitor or location that does not exist? I'm working on a PC that used to have 3 monitors and now only has 1 and when I open certain programs they open on the non existant monitor. WTF is this shit?

Is there any way to fix this without having to physically find another monitor and plug it in so I can move the window and hope it remembers the last location?

For some you can just select the window on the task bar, right-click and hit maximize. If that doesn't work you can alt tab to give the window focus, hit alt+space and then use your arrow keys to redirect it back onto the main desktop.

Sometimes that works, but there are apps where the move option is not there. Is there a way to remove that monitor from Windows so it does not think it's still there? It's set as "disabled", but I need it out completely.

Go to your graphics card software (catalyst, nvidia control panel etc.) and find monitors. Tinker with the settings in there. I forgot the name of the setting though. Wish I could be of more help.
