Why doesn't Anand or Tom Pabst try the Geforce>GloriaII trick?

I would really like to read an article from Anand or Tom (Pabst) on the two ways that seem to exist to convert a Geforce 1 (Elsa ErazorX) into a 'Quadro' (Elsa Gloria II), that makes it, among other features, capable to work with Elsa's MAXtreme drivers in 3DstudioMAX/VIZ. It won't cost'm much (almost nothing) but if they could show us that it works, it could save a lot of MAX/VIZ users a lot off money. Maybe more than overclocking a Duron or Thunderbird processor! A missed opportunity, thats what I think. Show us if its possible and proof if the Geforce and Quadro are one-and-the-same chip!

Probably because Nvidia would not like it.

NVidia/Elsa is charging people more for the Gloria because they spent more time to drivers. The workstation market is a very niche market and they wouldn't like it taken away from them.

ie why would anyone ever buy a Gloria when u could buy a GeForce1/GTS for half the price or less? Then NVidia would no longer build any more drivers for the Gloria. Get my drift?

Besides people want stability from a card maker not a hack to make it work. Its why companies don't overclock there 700cb0 stepping p3s

Well, of course Nvidia or Elsa wouldn't like it. But hey, Would AMD like it when Anand or Tom found a way to overclock Durons or Thunderbirds? Where is the difference? I don't see it...

Is there anybody out there that is as curious about this as I am? Aren't there any 3DstudioMAX/VIZ users in here who own or plan to own a Geforce 1 card and would like to get it to work with the Maxtreme drivers and/or use AA-wires? Maybe somenone has tried this with succes and could share his/her experience...

When it first shipped it ran with and bested a great deal of the time the $3000 Wildcat 4110. It layed(and still does) some brutal smackdown on the $600-$1000 Oxygen GVX1, it trashes the E&S Tornado, it blows away the SGI Cobalt systems, what are you talking about???

Tech support- The GloriaII and the GeForce with the newer drivers, are listed as less problematic overall then most of the "pro" boards by many of the software makers, A|W for instance.

I think a more important question is why would you want to modify a GeForce to a Gloria?? There are other ways to install the Gloria drivers, though with the exception of two applications, AutoCAD and 3DSM, the Detonators tend to blow the Elsa offerings away. As it stands now the GF/GF2 both do extremely well on 3DSM without needing Elsa's specialized drivers, though an easy installation of them wouldn't be bad

Show me those reviews! I'm talking Gloria II pro (Quadro) here, not the older Gloria's. In reviews I read, the Gloria II beats almost every other card, except the most expensive Wildcat in some benchmarks, especially in 3DstudioMAX/VIZ. I don't know about the U.S.A. but the German company Elsa has a very good reputation here in Europe.

I have this brand spanking new Hercules Prophet II 64MB
card sitting here and it looks like by desoldering two
SMD resistors and moving them over I can unleash it's
true wireframe potential and hopefully really get
3D Studio Max to scream.

So does this work with my card or does it have to be
an Elsa card to start with? Will the modification make
my card perform as a Gloria II or a III? Can someone
