Think about it, the other guy is trying to kill you. Why not go after the balls of the other guy to quickly neutralize him?

Same reason boxers, wrestlers, and other 'professional' fighters don't use the most effective techniques. It'd be over too quickly.

you got it all wrong, bateluer is right, go get in a fight where your life is on the line. guy code is only present between friends and non-lethal situations. the man who assumes guy-code is in effect when lives are on the line, is the man who likely will not come out alive.

while it may be an easily-defenable spot, its also easy to distract someone from defending the groin by going for another spot. hit them in the neck (albiet also harder to do), and then in the balls, and they will be down quite quickly. this is where you perform your finishing move and, well.... 'finish them'.
