Bah!

Scared the piss out of me.

Pffft.

I had a guy pull up next to me at a stoplight and started cussing me out for no reason at all. He's yelling and screaming about me tresspassing on his property. Now, I had just returned from playing pool with some friends so I figure it's just a case of mistaken identity.

This fool follows me for about five miles through the suburbs, still cussing, honking, flashing his headlights and accusing me the whole way. I start approaching my neighborhood and thinking I definately don't want this nutjob to know where I live, so I started driving faster. As did he. I'm now doing around 85 or so through Fair Oaks, which is a hilly area near Sacramento. I get to the bottom of one of the hills, can't see his headlights behind me and quickly decide to swing a right hand turn. Four-wheel slide it around the corner and make an even more abrupt left turn into an apartment complex. Switch off my lights and hope he didn't see me.

Crap! He pulled into the apartment complex behind me, so I pull quickly back out towards Fair Oaks Blvd and notice two patrol cars on the opposite side of the street where I just pulled my Starsky and Hutch move. I slowly pull up next to the cops and explain that this crazy guy has been chasing me for miles.

The dood pulls up behind me, gets out of his car and starts yelling towards the cops "Arrest that man! He tresspassed on my property!" They ask me if that's true, I say "Hell no, this guy just started chasing me and accusing me of all this!"

The cops then ask him where his property is and how I tresspassed on it. The guy says "He tresspassed on my car!" "He didn't use his blinker!" Then he charges the cops to try to get at me, they dented his precious car hood with his forehead and proceeded to arrest him. Ended up, he was high on drugs and drunk.

The cops didn't even ask for me to stick around for a report. He commented on the "precise, high speed turn" I made earlier and then suggested that I drive home safely and *Slowly*.

I zone out on the highway, but I do it safely. I sit in the right lane with cruise control set to the speed limit, and I make sure to have a large distance behind the person in front of me. Everyone else can honk at each other in the battle for the left lane; I'm done with that.

There are many reasons. I will list basic overviews in likeliness.

A) Chemical inebriation. There are so many drivers with a wide variety of driving skill. A large blanket of these drivers take drugs and drive afterwards causing large amounts of problems.

B) Natural aging process. Homo-sapiens were not really supposed to live as long as we do now. It makes for all sorts of mental diseases that we are struggling to figure out and just can't.

C) Long bloodline of poor spacial intelligence. No matter where you stand on the evolution fence, it seems highly unlikely that you did not notice a similarity between yourself and your biological parents. Spacial intelligence is definitely inherited trait. More power to you if you refuse to believe that, but my experience has proven that to be true, across all gender lines.

simply: because they are assholes

i hate cellphone drivers.... i moreso hate that if youre going to be on your cellphone that you are a shitty multi-tasker.... if your cellphone usage impairs your driving skills, get off the fucking phone, get a bluetooth, whatever!

Agreed, we shall start Draconian laws again in regards to cell phones and driving. If someone is caught using the cell phone, they shall be hung at 12 noon.

I believe people should be forced to retake the drivers test every ten years. One class and one test at age 16 is clearly not going to leave a lasting impression on most folks.

jail is no fucking joke man. its like the worst night of anyones life

and i agree about the drivers test thing. thats a GREAT idea

Well, it is already against the law in many places, as it should be. The penalty is not death, but a pretty stiff fine. More power to you if you think all people are created equal. Granted, it is certainly not true, and evolution has proven it time and time again.

An electronic distraction is inevitable with how much we are being stopped in our daily lives.

People who are turning at a light MUST yield the right of way to pedestrian in a crosswalk. This is the law in most if not all states. It doesn't matter if their wasn't a crosswalk.

If I understand the OP's scenario:

Diagram

Then the OP should have yielded the right of way to the pedestrian as she crossed at the appropriate time and he should have fully expected her to cross when she did. However, she also should have looked to see that it was safe to do so. Dead right is still dead.

yea but what hes saying is that he already is making the turn and basically this pedestrian ignores that there is a car on the road already turning and still decides to walk out into the street to cross.

sounds to me like the pedestrian was literally trying to walk into or get hit by your car.

when im a pedestrian (on foot, yo) at like a shopping center or whatnot, i take my time. i hate when cars are like barreling through the parking lot or across the GIANT pedestrian crossing areas. im like "i wish one of these mother fuckers would hit me cuz i would sue in a fucking new york minute!"
my boyfriend hates that i dont wait for the cars to pass, he tries to hold me back... im just like no, they need to fucking stop or slow the fuck down when im walking in the damn parking lot! HIT MEEEE!!! I SUEEE YOUUUU

heheheeeee

and on another note, im ALWAYS courteous of pedestrians. especially those with children

Basically he shouldn't have started to make his turn with a pedestrian waiting to cross the street.

In the past month, 8/10 of the wtf moments I encountered on the road were with drivers who were women talking on their cellphones. I know that statistically, women are safer drivers because men take stupid risks more often, but it seems like most of the drivers who talk on their phones are women (from my observation).

It is called "driving defensively". Now you know why they taught you in Driver's Education to drive that way. It is certainly not new and not due to cell phones or any other modern invention.

Basically, she waited on the sidewalk, and perhaps was dumb enough to think green on the street light meant go for her

If you and the pedestrian are at an intersection and you and the pedestrian were traveling the same direction, then the green IS for her also (and you have to yield to the pedestrian).

Chalk ANOTHER one up to the OP being an idiot. On the last one it was at least questionable as to whether he was wrong, here there is no doubt. The pedestrian had a walk sign and the OP thinks they shouldn't be walking because he has a green light? lol this is rich.

Just now going to get lunch, I am in a shopping center with the right of way going straight through. I can tell when people are going to drive and not look around, and I was right. This guy that wanted to cross my straight way DOES NOT EVEN LOOK MY WAY after looking the other way, and goes straight through and cut me off. I am not even going fast, but if I dont break, I hit him, and I am liable. He stops when he sees im about to hit him, and then keeps going, not a care in the world.

EDIT: I added this next part because it was just another frustrating incident that occurred right after the previous guy on the way home, but with a pedestrian. Maybe I am off my rocker or explaining it wrong, but I am getting heat for this in the post. If I am still wrong or the bad guy, well, I dont get it then. Basically, the pedestrian did not look for traffic when crossing the street, and there is no walking sign, so you have to use common sense. I had a clear green light to make a turn, and she starts walking across the street after I am already in motion making the turn. Basically, she waited on the sidewalk, and perhaps was dumb enough to think green on the street light meant go for her; I dont know. Bottomline was that she should not have crossed at that time, and she failed to even look back towards me on the street parallel to her; she just took it upon herself to start walking when she felt like it. END EDIT

Then when driving home, I am trying to make a right on to my street. This lady is on the sidewalk walking her child in a stroller. I am ALREADY MAKING THE TURN onto the street, and she keeps walking not even looking to see if a car was making a turn. Again, this is a slow turn, I have to stop or I hit her and the child.

I am so sick of these fucking retards!!

You drinking cranberry juice? [/TheDepartedReference]

I have no problems with heaty drivers, but old people drive me crazy. Sometimes there is really no way to differentiate between somebody who is old and somebody who is drunk.
-driving excessively slow
-swerving back and forth within their own lane
-signaling after they've done something or started to do something
-making wide "i drive a semi" turns even when they're in a Toyota Corolla
-slowing to less than 10km/h when making turns

One time I actually called the police to report a drunk driver. I described everything that was going on, gave the make and model, license, where I was, etc. The guy turned off, and while passing I noticed he was just very old.

It doesn't matter if there is a "walking sign" (lol) or not; the pedestrian still has the right of way. Perhaps you should try to improve your own driving skills and learn the rules of the road;
then perhaps you could become a better driver, instead of just another accident waiting to happen.

The green light is her "walking sign" in this case.

I find it horrifying that people like the OP are driving around. I hope I never have to deal with people like him on the roads, they are a danger to everyone.
