Why don't we live past 100 years much anymore?

assuming some discrepancy with measurements of time, and assuming 800 years in the bible was approximately 100 in real life, that would make the creation of the universe about 18 hours long, with god resting for 3 hours after that. shrug.

btw, i don't buy this whole 120 years as predicted by the bible thing... especially since the oldest human ever lived to be 122.

Uhh...I have no idea where you guys are getting the idea of God screwing with what he means by "years"

If God said he made the Heavens and the Earth in 7 days then I believe it to be from Sunday to Saturday, not 18 hours with a 3 hour break

in defense of the bible, rather than blindly rejecting something, take into consideration that the translation of the date/time from the bible has gone through many phases and of course there's bound to be glitches in specific words. In this case, examine the fact that despite the current translation saying something like 600 "years," notice that the story of moses only had his life extending a maximum two generations (from when he started leading the hebrews out of egypt when he was a young lad to when they reached the promise land 40 years later). unless people reach reproductive age at 400 or something like that, its pretty obvious that there was a problem either in translation or time conversion. rather than it being 800 years, try eight hundred months, which extends exactly 2 generations (66 years).-

Btw, it might be that they were talking 'moons' instead, so 800/12=66.7 years.

This board is probably not the best place to post such questions - flamebait all around. On ATOT for the majority - unless you are against Christianity or the Bible,etc - you are considered wrong.

Though it is kinda sad that some people who are against Christianity, the Bible,etc don't really know why. It's "cool" to be it - so don't question it - just go along with the crowd. If you asked most people how much they have really studied the Bible beyond just reading it - you won't get too much honest feedback.

Great analogy

Star Trek is based on the future which is pure speculation, with a mild basis in the progression of scientific discovery.

The Bible has not been proven to be true, granted, but much matches with scientific explanations and time periods, for example, the ten plagues.
