I couldn't believe it until I played it today. K/m have always been better than using a controller. It's more accurate and easier to control.
After I cranked up Halo today, I couldn't believe how well they pulled it off.
Basically, they copied the keyboard/mouse style of play for a FPS onto the XBox controller. With your left hand, it's just like a keyboard (move/turn or move/strafe, your choice) and you can push down the stick to crouch. With your right hand, it's just like a mouse (look around and aim). Your thumb controls the aiming and looking around, while your "right-click" mouse finger hits the "fire" trigger.
I hope game developers of all the FPS games for the XBox adopt this layout for the controls. It is very effective.
As for the stubborn na-sayers, go try it for yourself. It's quite suprising..
