Why hasnt there been another game like Planetside?

Dust 514 will be out in 2011 or 2012. EVE Online's FPS that affects its own persistent world that ties into the EVE Online persistent world.

Game developers will be pushing their own variations of persistent worlds soon enough. I think you'll find more people want to play this type of game are PC gamers. But the target end user that will actually pay the digital rent to warrant the cost of building such a system will almost always be Console gamers.

So right now developers don't have to build these systems because they can squeeze another Call of Shitty out and people will milking their label. When the console gamers get tired of the spoon feeding, and they will just like PC gamers wanted more than point and click adventures and flight sim games in the late 80s, they will start to demand what every MMOG gamer wants: to make a difference.

Afterall, why should you pay 60 bucks for what is essentially new maps and skins? When gamers get fed up with it, the devs will build 1 game and wrap it in a micro-transaction based pay model to pay for the infrastructure to hold such a beast.

Dust 514 isn't a MMOFPS. It's another "graphical lobby shooter" where they rubber stamp the "MMO" part onto it just to make sales. I won't argue that it isn't somewhat innovative in how it interacts with EVE, but otherwise, it's going to just be another plain old FPS.

Well despite any marketing spin CCP has put on it, I'll take their word for it over yours.

Dust 514 is not guild wars. While the lobby system may best explain the concept of player group up between planets it still remains a concept that hasn't been fully explained. So you are talking out your ass... again.

Also, there is much more persistence of user interaction in the game world. There are player upgradable weapons and vehicles akin to how EVE players upgrade their ship-avatars. Their is an economy system that not only is self contained within the Dust servers but also one that persists over from the EVE servers.

So it is much more than a lobby system. You'd be a fool to shelf it with the Battle.net and ArenaNet.
