why i cant get transmission from my router?

I just installed a linksys pci 54mbs wireless network card on my old pc, and i can conect to my router and see my other pc's and even access shared folders, but i cant go online with the share internet. basically is conected but no receiving the dns and other things required for online surfing

What errors do you get in a web browser when you try to load a webpage?

start, run, cmd, enter:

ping www.google.com

Any loss?

Is your router running DHCP? If that is turned off you will not get a valid IP along with dns. If dns is the only issue either manually specify 4.2.2.2 or use some of the ones at www.opendns.com

ok, i did the ping thing that akhiles susgested and i got no return, just simply said can find internet, also the lynsys program, says that it finds the router but not the internet, both my own pc and my wife's laptop find the internet fine, it just the kids computer the one that cant. But it can ascess my files and my wife's files too. For some reason and i tried all i know , the linksys NIC cant find the DNS from the router that is conected to my comcast cable?telephone modem. What else can I try. Yes the router and the linksys NIC in the kids computer have DHCP enable.

Open a command prompt and type "ipconfig /all".
Do this for the PC that cannot access the internet and one of the PCs that can.
Either post those results here, or post the differences between them here...if you've already determined this is a DNS issue, then just look and see if there is a difference in the DNS servers being used.

It's possible that you have the Wireless NIC set to obtain and IP automatically, but you have a (bad) statically assigned dns server.

ok, did that ipconfig/all here are the results:
as far as gateway, dns both working pc's have the same , the other one, the one in question didnt have a dns or gateway, i went manually configured to the one that the others pc's use to go online and same thing i conect to the router but cant share the internet conection??? This pc that dont work with the internet is a 450mhz, now the specs for the nic says a minimum of a 500mhz processor, but i think this dont matter cuz if that was the problem the nic wouldnt even conect to the router and show it works, since i can transfer data, i just cant for the love of God find what the heck is wrong.

now that you have it configured for a working DNS Server, open a comand prompt and type "nslookup google.com". If DNS is working properly, you should get a response back with google's IP address. If this doesn't return an IP, you're not using a valid DNS Server.

Can you ping your Default Gateway (Router)? What Router are you using?
