Bitch Bitch Bitch. You made the mistake of buying the TV card RedShirt, if you were never happy with it you should have returned it and got a different brand. Mail In Rebates rarely go well, and a toll free number is nothing but a benefit. In the end you let yourself get shafted, and the best thing you can do is not support them, and let people know that the specific device you have is crap in Windows XP. There are plenty of other devices that STILL have problems in windows XP, so I dont see that as a legitimate argument, ATI is working double time on the parts THAT MAKE THEM MONEY, obviously selling TV tuners is not something that will keep them in buisness. Asking tech support where your rebate is?, how retarted is that? Sure a simple "do you have any info. on the rebate" question is within line, but how is a TECH suppose to know how ATI is managing their money? Comparing the 8500 to a GF4 Ti4200 is just plain stupid, considering the GF4 came out a full year after the 8500 obviously some tweaking and enhanced features for speed benefits were added.
Your post sucks RedShirt, if your so pissed go out and bash the frikin TV tuner with a bat and never speak of ATI again. Like anyone gives a sh*t about your unfortunate computer experience, IT HAPPENS. There are plenty of good ATI products THAT WORK out there and I'm damn happy with my 8500. ATI dose not suck RedShirt, YOU suck for being such an ass about such a minor incident. Waaaaaa, I want my 50 dollars, the 8500 isn't fast enough, my TV card dosen't work and my phone bill is a dollar more expensive than last months phone bill. I say you go and have that convo with a monkey, it would do you good, maybe you'll learn something about the human race. Sometimes you get shafted RedShirt, deal with it. Like rbV5 pointed out, do your research before you throw your money down.
