Why I think ATI sucks

Why ATI Sucks:

1. They do not have a toll free number to call. If you need to get into contact with them, you have to pay long distance to Canada.
2. Their drivers are terrible. They are trying to make their drivers better for their Radeon line of cards, but I still am waiting for drivers that make my TV Wonder PCI work like it is supposed to in Windows XP. Thank God for the guys that made the program Dscaler, as I can use my card to watch TV without even installing one flawed driver for it (or any drivers what-so-ever). The Radeon 8500 should be faster than a TI-4200, but it is not, their driver department stinks.
3. Their rebate process. Right now I am still waiting for a 50-dollar rebate that I sent in over 4 months ago. The fault is ATI?s as I have called both Best Buy and Wheresmyrebate.com and they both say its ATI?s fault. Best Buy even went so far as to put me in a 3 way conference with their tech support lady, and some lady they called up from ATI. The ATI lady said she had no idea when ATI would allow the rebates to go out (as everything is approved, they essentially just have to sign the check). I asked why they are delaying getting the rebate out and she said she had no idea. Basically, I could have had a more enlightening talk with a monkey.

I am now officially a Nvidia Zealot, as you have a far greater selection of cards to choose from with Nvidia, you can buy a card from VisionTek and know you get GREAT support. This is the final straw and I?m not considering an ATI product for a very long time, things need to change for this company, they seem to forget that it is their customers that fund their business.

No way the 8500 could be faster then the 4200 btw. the fact that it is near that in speed is nice. exp considering when it was released it was slower then a ti200

Not really.

1. Creative is too, their customer service/tech support number is in Silicon Valley.
2. Many manufacturers don't have perfect driver.
3. Most rebates don't come on time, and they always try to get rid of paying back rebate by hoping consumers forget to send in rebate, send in late, miss information, etc.

See, the thing is, I am APPROVED for my rebate. Both Best Buy and wheresmyrebate.com both say the same thing while talking to them on the phone. ATI has to give the OK to send out the rebates. Right now they are just sitting on them, simple as that. I have spent tons and tons of time on this, as I really could have used an extra 50 bucks a couple of weeks ago, but alas, ATI couldn't care less.

I received a staples rebate in a record 2 weeks for a Hard Drive, this is the longest I have ever waiting for a rebate in my life, as none in the past have taken over 3 months, for me at least. Anything over 3 months is very unaccpetable and I don't understand why some think its ok since it happens more than it should.

On paper, the Radeon 8500 is (edit: arguably) better than the TI4200. ATI just stinks at drivers, they have gotton better, but their driver level is no where near Nvidias.

Hey now, I'm a born again Nvidia Zealot. Check my sigs, All ATI in there, I was a Nvidia man a long time ago, then I converted to ATI, then after these great experiances, I converted back to Nvidia.

I guess it's like when I was growing up I was verying obeying and nice.
Then I rebelled against the world and went ATI
After growing up I realized that ATI was bad, so I am now starting to realize that Nvidia is the right way to go.

Bwahhahhaha. ATI does still have some nice features and good prices, but their support and drivers are just so crappy. Although the Radeon line has gotton better..

you can't make that statement without knowing how good the occulsion detection and other bandwidth and fill-rate saving techs are on the GF4 in comparison to the 8500.

The TV wonder was conceived way before WinXP was close to hitting the market and rebates in general take a long time to be processed. I know alot of video card manufacturers that don't have a toll free # with Leadtek being the first to come to mind.

Well, if I'm an idiot for making some claims, you sure are one too

ATI still sells the TV wonder, and posted some beta drivers for XP on the 4th of July. If they would have waited two more days, I could have stated that it took ATI over one year to come up with one update to their drivers. They still don't work right and XP is almost one year old (not quite, but OEM's had copies long before the October 25th or whatever release date) and they STILL can't get good drivers for that.

And the claim the Ati's drivers are top notch is the most lame thing I have ever heard... I won't even justify that with any other counter-argument.

With Nvidia, you can choose a good company to buy a card from, Visiontek comes to mind.

Ati still does not have very good Vid Card makers using their chips. Hercules support is terrible, all of them really struggle at support. Besides, there weren't even non ATI boards out when I bought mine.

The compnay is just frusterating. All these people are making claims about other companies that have bad support, this is why I don't buy from them. I have been against Creative for years. Check my sigs, I'm creative free.

i thought that ati wasn't going to put out xp drivers for the tv wonder

and as we all have troubles with one company or another i feel for you but at the same time i
also have owned ati and never had a problem(knocks on wood) since two years ago with drivers that didn't turn out to be a mistake on my part(and no i don't own a tv wonder as i bought the all in one series)

but i still stand behind ati as a good company to do business with the same can be said for nvidia

I guess my FACTS that I posted aren't relevant... While I do have opinions posted, the big things that piss me off is their phone number, and the rebate stuff. There is no reason for them to simply HOLD the money this long. Those are facts.

This is the second time on these forums that people have said I'm like 10-13.

I am 20 years old.

I guess I am wrong in expecting good customer service or am wrong in having my own opinion.

What pisses me off is personal attacks people do at me that are unprovoked, just because I think a certain way.

I never personally attack anyone else on these forums unless they do some low blow at me. I think it is the most immature thing to attack a persons character for no reason, other than because someone thinks differently than someone else.

Even in threads that I haven't even contributed to, I am disgusted when someones only point in their post is someone is an idiot or retarded. These people contribute nothing to the thread and prove what level of intelligence they have.
