Why Intel processor are adviced than AMD for gaming?

I just built my FX system not too long ago, and I game on it. Guess I'm nuts. :sneaky:

You are NOT Nuts. Obviously from my sig you would presume I am a Intel "fanboy". Due to sig size limitations, I can't list in my sig all three rigs I regularly game on, but, besides the rig below I have a Intel 3770k @4.5Ghz with 2 EVGA GTX670 FTWs in SLI and a AMD FX 8350 @4.6Ghz with a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X. My FX8350 rig is a GREAT gamer. The R9 290 Tri-X is a BEAST of a card.

The highest Benchmark scores belong to the SLI 670 rig followed by my Classified & OC'd 780 below and then the R9 290.

HOWEVER, the R9 290 is an EXCELLENT gaming gpu and the 8350 is hardly a slouch.

The latest debate in another thread was six vs 4 cores for gaming. Considering you have a hex core and quad of the same generation and very close to the same overclock, how do you feel about this? Have you tried any recent games like Watchdogs that supposedly use a lot of cores? Are there any other games that you play that show a benefit of six cores?

I bought the system more for a fun hobbyist build, and because I've generally used and really liked the AMD CPU's I've owned in the past. Also, it is a bit of a first rough draft on a custom water set up... learned lots so my next build will be much cleaner. I don't regret the purchase at all. I definitely could have done better in regards to bang for the buck and I wouldn't recommend an AMD FX AM3+ to too many these days. And certainly not an FX 9xxx CPU to anyone who doesn't already have a potent AM3+ motherboard. But for me, I think it was a good choice for this build, glad I went this route.
