Why is breastfeeding frowned upon?

Agreed, it's due to sexual repression in the US, where we now consider exposed tits to belong solely the realm of porn. Biologically, human beings are designed to breastfeed, not live on formula purchased from Proctor & Gamble or whatever corporate conglomerate manufactures the stuff in a factory in China.

When you DO go outside, you know, into public where the society you choose to live in says that they don't want to see it, obey the rules or change the rules through proper methods, or gtfo.

Living in a community benefits you for many reasons but one thing you must do is sacrifice some things you may like to do. I might like to run around naked and it might be much healthier for me to do so, but nobody wants to see that so I don't.

For those few times you must feed the baby while you're in public, there ARE alternatives and using one of those alternatives every once in a while isn't going to kill you or your child.

I live in a state that says I am legally allowed to breastfeed my child anywhere I and the child are permitted to be -- this includes in public. There are no stipulations that I or the child must be covered either.

It doesn't matter whether you agree with the things I said. They are true. I don't need your agreement for that.

So, again, yes, you are ignorant in that you do not know what you are talking about.

So just not looking wouldn't kill you.

I'm in the DC area. Employers are expected to have a place for female employees to pump if they need to. If it happens in public, so be it. Babies need to eat too, right? Nobody's asking us to take our sandwiches into the can at lunch time. Shit, a baby breastfeeding doesn't nearly offend me as much as how some other people eat - including myself at times.

The next time you're genuinely pissed off about breastfeeding in public, just go ahead and punch yourself in the face. If you're not up to that, just picture yourself like the human buzzsaw that you are crushing a Popeye's combo. I fucking love Popeyes, but I know it ain't pretty when I eat it.

It's actually the law in Illinois (where I live) that employers provide time and a location for pumping. It also specifically says that a toilet stall is not considered an acceptable location.

I've never heard people frown upon breastfreeding. Quite the opposite in fact. I've only heard that breastfeeding (well, more specifically breastmilk) is better than formula and that only in rare cases should formula be chose over breastmilk.

The only thing I've heard against breastfeeding is doing it out in the open in public. I can understand people's complaints with it. Nowadays you can get a pump and prepare a bottle of breastmilk ahead of time if you need to.

Every once in awhile an incident makes the news where a breastfeeding mother was asked to leave a public place. It happened a couple of times here in Texas, so the state legislature passed a couple of laws protecting the mothers right to feed her child.

After one restaurant asked a lady to leave, the next day there were protectors outside picketing the business. Once the boycott went into effect, the business owner issued an apology.

Its part of the healthcare reform, businesses of a certain size (not huge ones either) MUST provide a place for women to pump/feed, and bathroom stalls are NOT acceptable places. They must also be lockable and private.
