EA are disliked by many gamers because they take game franchises that gamers really love with a deep passion, they buy out the development studio, they destroy everything that was good about the games and promote dumbed down gameplay, day 0 DLC, fast development cycles which just cheapens the game, and generally turn something that's beautiful into something that's just horrible.
Bioware was one of the biggest examples, good god these guys could make an RPG and EA step in and buy them out, Dragon Age Origins one of my favourite RPGs, had a really nice kickback to the old days feel to it, EA step in a low and behold a year later we have DA2 which is a total fucking mess.
Gamers repeatedly moan about how awful they are and how what they do just drags gaming down into mediocrity, by targeting the broadest audiences with the blandest titles.
The gaming scene has a history of being a creative medium great for expression and subtlety, and to some degree the AAA games had moved towards needing good businesses practices to make investments that big a lot safer, but EA take this to a new corporate level, they literally have zero respect for gaming or gamers, we're just seen as sheep with fat wallets to be hoovered up.
Yea sure they're just a business and like other big businesses they'll make decisions purely motivated by profit, but the gaming world isn't JUST a business world, it's more than that, it has it's roots in gamers building games they like and they think others will like and having some artistic integrity that defies profit.
Seriously EA would take the Mona Lisa and modify it to add mountain dew in her hands if they thought it could turn a decent profit from the ad revenue, this is how a lot of gamers feel about EA, they're just a blight.
And the mention of bankers pushing millions out of their homes, no sorry, that was people being irresponsible and taking loans they couldn't pay back, no one forced them to do that, they knew the repercussions when they signed the paperwork.
