Why is it so difficult for Christians to accept that Jesus was Black?

every argument about jesus being black, doesnt really argue against his skintone. instead, they argue jesus wasnt shaka zulu. but to me, its obviuos that by the facts given, he was a lot closer to shaka zulu than he was to george bush.

I didn't read any of the messages in here yet, but while we don't know if Jesus was actually BLACK black, her certainly wasn't pasty white either. After all, he lived in (I guess you could say) a mediterranian country. Very hot - arid, working in the sun all day... he'd have been a branzy-tan colour like most spanish are. That's what I'd assume anyways.

Now I am not a christian, and for all you believers, pardon if I offend you.

Now you're all talking about whether Jesus was black, white, yellow, green, pink, or maybe even colourless and transparent. The simple fact of the matter is that you werent there to witness it and therefore you can say anything or make any assumptions. Jesus could have been a 5 year old boy, a seventy year old grandmother, or a dying horse. We dont know. It is a simple fact that people twist stories. The bible may have important lessons, I can agree with that. But to even assume that the bible is completely correct. For example.

This could have been (and probably was) misinterpeted in translations. I could be wrong, but didnt the original bible get lost at one point and it had to be rewritten from stories. And if so, we all know how people can twist stories, let alone books.

As for Classy's comment. How do you get off saying that all non-believers go to hell. I thought god loved everyone, no matter race, colour, or culture. Even still, is that to say that since you do not believe in someone elses god, that you will go to that religion's equivilence to hell. Just think about that for a minute.

Overall, this discussion has been very interesting. As before, I am sorry if I offended anyone. I am only an uneducated 19 yearold, and if any of my infering is incorrect, please tell me. I enjoy the correct information that has been transcribed.

About two years ago I was reading an article about the restoration of the murals painted on the ceiling of the Cistine Chapel by Michaelangelo. Some of the peoples faces depicted were so worn it was difficult to restore them correctly. But it was revealed in the article that Michaelangelo had used models for all of the Biblical depictions (Last Supper, etc.). In other words, he painted from real life, not from imagination. The painting was accurately restored by going to preliminary sketches or ancient records of the people involved. An astounding fact mentioned in the piece was that Michaelangelo used his COUSIN* as the model for Christ. In other words, all people with icons/pictures of that scrawney, sinewy, long curly dirty brown haired &quot;Jesus&quot; are in fact worshipping Michaelangelo's cousin.

Personally, I believe Jesus was somewhat brown. Actually, I believe that Adam and Eve were brown. Some migrated down Africa and obtain their dark skin color. Others went up to Europe and turned white. Who knows who cares.

You are forgetting that this command was only given specifically to the nation of Israel.

Logically -to me, that makes no sense. How can the rest of the world or specifically different cultures then impose THEIR visions of ISRAEL's messiah on the rest of the world? Wouldn't the image that &quot;may not be ascribed&quot; yet held by the israelite then be of their own regional ancestry? So therefore as Israel has not endorsed any image then all the images are then proved false. It is my thought from that conclusion that one could only then respect this question in relation to the geographical region of millenia past.

Jews are a race by definition below:

By this dictionary definition sense, Jews are a race. We are not speaking of gentiles who convert to Judaism.

Please provide a link to this dictionary. Houghton Mifflin (2000). Not an arguement, I just want to clairify where you and I stand on terminology.

As far as anyone knows mabey you're not a real person. Then again, mabey I'm not a real person. There is more documents that lead to proof of Jesus Christ then any other person in history. As long as my name is Jim, there is no doubt in my mind that He lived on earth 2000 years ago.
