Why is it so hard for me to eat in the morning?

So I started the Rippetoe workout and have complete my first week's cycle of workouts A, B, A. I have worked out in the past and adequate food was always my bane. Until recently, I rarely ate breakfast aside from a snack around 10 or 11 in the morning. I've been getting up this week and eating 1/2 cup of oatmeal, a yogurt, and glass of milk. I then head to the train station and grab a cup of coffee.

Now I'm definitely addicted to coffee. I have a sit down at the computer all day IT job. Before I started trying to eat breakfast a large cup of coffee was my breakfast, and I think this might be the problem. Now I'm no Mr. 2 pots of coffee a day. I would say I drink about 24 ounces of coffee a day.

Now last night I was admittedly a little bit hungry before bed. I was also a bit thirsty and didn't drink enough water. I didn't have that snack after dinner before i went to sleep because i was so damned tired. I expected to wake up this morning hungry and I wasn't. I forced down 1/2 cup of oatmeal before I gagged myself and couldn't eat anymore.

Why am I not hungry in the morning, especially after being a bit hungry the night before going to bed? Is it my body's reliance on the cup of coffee? Did not eating enough food and water the night before cause my body to go into some weird mode? I like the taste of oatmeal/milk/yogurt/etc. so its not like I hate the food I have for breakfast.

Any help is appreciated!

Force it down. I have the benefit of being always hungry (sucks when I'm cutting tho)

Try a protein shake. Oatmeal is hard to force. You can even blend in some oatmeal to the shake if you want.

1. Dump coffee or go decaf
2. Do NOT eat within three (3) hours of going to bed
3. Cut out sugar and sugar-like stimulants completely (at least temporarily, to see how if affects you)
4. Do NOT drink within one (1) hour of going to bed

Do some exercise as soon as you wake up, within 30 minutes you should be feeling at least a little hungry. Also drink one (1) cup of water as soon as you wake up - you are dehydrated from 8 hours of no water and need to rehydrate yourself immediately. If you're willing to do this for a few days you should see a good improvement within a week.

Drink a protein shake. I was never a big morning eater, so I'd just have a massive shake on my long drive to school every morning.

Yep these go a really long way. You can even go as far as mixing your whey + milk with peanut butter, eggs, oats, fruits, etc.

Have you tried eating something different like eggs + chicken + toast? I don't mind oatmeal and yogurt at all, but the texture never really agreed with my stomach first thing in the morning.
