MS3 is your best bet for something in that price range if you insist on brand new, MT, and turbo.
Green is in, it's going to be hard to find the features you want in a new car. You'd have to go back to the 90s to early 2000s for something you'll *REALLY* love. MR2 Turbo, 300ZX, etc. They stopped making cool cars in that price range the last couple years. Most things sporty with a turbo and manual with some kick are going to be things like 135i, etc that are pricey, or weak green econo cruisers that have a turbo to make up for the 1.0L engine that gets 1000 mpg. I can't think of anything CURRENT that really meets your criteria besides the MS3.
Oh wait, Cobalt SS is another one, those are pretty wicked and are turbo and easy to mod. Should come with a manual right?
SRT-4? *Thinking hard...*
Isn't there supposed to be a turbo Focus headed this way? We need more hot turbo hatches for $20k. The market is pretty divided right now, you either have econo boxes and Camrys and eco trendy green cars at $20k, or you have Mustangs GTs and 370Z at $30K+
On the other hand, the V6 Mustang at 305 HP is probably a blast and they start at what $22k? It's not turbo but then it already has as much power as you'll get out of a lightly modded turbo 4 cyl. Only problem with Mustangs for you is while you have a large amount of trunk *space* the rear deck and opening are very *short*, that might be a problem for loading large items.
I want 6 cylinders, 4 doors, a manual transmission. That's it. WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT!!?!?
Both the BMW 3 series and 5 series provide exactly this.
Too much money for his price range probably. Pontiac G8s GTs are even better. V8 + Manual + 4 doors for under $30 (not anymore).
Both the BMW 3 series and 5 series provide exactly this.
Not manual...G8 GT was only automatic. To get a manual you had to get the $40K G8 GXP. Loved that car.
Agreed the BMW was out of the OP's range...but I wasn't responding to the OP...I was responding to ShawnD1.
Hmmm used GXP might be a good option to consider!
Not sure about Holden reliability.
Got my R3 RX-8 for $20,200.
Just sayin...
And they aren't $23k and are loaded with things people might NOT want.
GM push rod engines are as reliable as forks and revolvers.
So a tossup? I know I bend forks all the time and revolvers don't jam supposedly.
You bend them because youre doing it wrong...and despite that it still continues to function perfectly and loyally serve you for years without complaint... eg GM push rod engine.
Heheh, I bend forks at the neck, not at the teeth. Usually cuz the food is too heavy.
Engine isn't the only concern these days, if electronics or other stuff never works properly, a car can be intolerable.
Can't speak for the Cruze. The Cobalt and G5 had huge trunks in them. But those things were a turd with wheels. The Cruze is one of the cars I've been itching to drive.

I agreed, that's why I didn't put it in my list. They have terrible fuel efficiency and not much of a storage trunk.I sincerely doubt the RX-8 would be considered the "perfect car". Unique maybe, but not perfect.
