I've never met anyone IRL who could type faster than me

You likely just haven't paid attention, I know several people who can hit 140WPM regularly, 100WPM is considered fast, but nothing extraordinary. Hell, you probably work with someone who can type faster, they just don't make a big deal of it because its just typing.

I would like to meet them then to ask for tips. I've been asking for years and have people take online tests and the best I've found is a girl that could peak at 95.

Also 100+ WPM on online tests says: better than 99.96% of all typists or some shit so...'nothing extraordinary'...

I've had this logitech backlit keyboard for a few years with no complaints, I don't do a ton of typing but it does the job, I don't think I'd like it as much if I still played games though.

i actually had that one for years. it was fine for most things, but it had one glaring flaw

logitech purposely nerfed it so that certain key combinations wouldn't register. some games, like Half Life 2, and some apps, like Eclipse IDE, used those key combinations

it was so annoying that logitech purposely crippled a keyboard just so they could tell people, "oh, in order to do super duper key combos, you need to upgrade!"

Well you got me beat I only got 112 but 0 errors. How did you link that? I'll have to try again after I get my taxes taken care of.

He took a screenshot then uploaded to imgur, then used the imgur link to post it as a picture in the thread.

Who cares about typing speed

I bet you're one of those guys who says "Oh right away boss! I'll send Bill that email right now!"

"Tap...tap....tap....tap....tap.....tap....tap.....tap"........

Nope nope nope.

Compressed F-keys would drive me mad.
Displaced Win key would REALLY grind my gears.

I need ins/del home/end pgup/pgdn in their correct positions.

I use Shift+Del and Shift+Ins all the time when switching between keyboard and mouse.

Some shortcuts I learned from DOS edit and Qbasic.

I've never really cared about switch types. Even membrane is fine for me. Layout is the biggest factor in choosing a keyboard for me, and it's also where sooo many of them fail miserably.

I currently use the revised G15 v2 (red lighting)

100% standard layout
  • Location of [Win] key. F-you, condensed keyboards. Should be below [Z] and shifted left.
  • Shape of [Enter] key. F-you, Europe. Should be a rectangle.
  • Shape of [BackSp] key. F-you, Europe. Should be long enough for my pinky finger to reach it.
  • Location of [\] key. F-you, Europe. Should be below [BackSp], above [Enter].
  • Shape / location of [Insert]/[Del]/[Home]/[End]/[PgUp]/[PgDn] cluster and arrow keys. STOP F-ING WITH THIS ON NON-CONDENSED KEYBOARDS, FFS!!
  • Grouping and spacing of F-keys. Nothing infuriates me more than an otherwise-perfect layout that Fs with this for NO %%#^ING REASON.

I have that same keyboard and have also been using it for years. It is fairly quiet and I like the backlit keys. Great keyboard IMO.

I had that one as well. Still have it in the closet. I didn't like the key action and the lettering wore off several of them very quickly.

Razer Blackwidow Ultimate for me. It's my first mechanical keyboard, and aside from the loud "clacking" of the keys, I love it.

Do you have the standard Black Widow Ultimate?

I have the first version of the BWU Stealth. The Stealth uses Cherry MX Brown switches, whereas the standard BWU uses MX Blues. If you don't want the clack but want the same experience, I'd suggest picking up the Stealth variant, unless it doesn't matter much at this point to you.

Got this one in 2008. One thing I hated at first was the Home/Del/End/etc key positions (why did KB makers start messing with that!), and Insert way up next to the Print Screen, but I got used to that after a little while.

I don't particularly care for the loud, stiff, clacky mechanical keyboards. As it is now that this Logitech has so many years of keystrokes on it the plastic has worn enough that it has gotten louder than when it was new.

All the printing is still totally intact, which I find a bit amazing. Key tops are all really shiny from use and wear but they did a darn good job at making the printing permanent on there.
