Whenever I ask my friends who get a cold or a flu, they just stay home 1-2 days max, drink some hot tea, and they are back at it like an energizer bunny ready to go back to work. Some of them, don't even take off from work at all, drinking alka-seltzer and getting better the next day.
In my case, regardless of it's a simple cold or a flu, it ALWAYS results in a serious illness. I usually develop bacterial/viral strep throat as a complication, developing into pneumonia unless a doctor intervenes wit ha full course of antibiotics. I am well aware that flu cannot be cured by antibiotics because it's a virus. antibiotics are for the complications, which result from the flu.
What the hell gives? I asked my doctor if I have a weak immune system, and in her opinion that is not the case.
Whenever I drink hot tea, or take over the counter medications, they do absolutely nothing not only to cure me, but they don't even relieve my symptoms!
I can never "hope" that a common cold will go away by itself, because every time, like clockwork, it will always develop into something much more serious a few days later.
Even when I get a flu shot, that doesn't save me, because even though I wont get the flu, but I will certainly come down with something else, like a really bad case of strep throat.
So tired of this... Do you guys know anyone like me? Honestly, I never heard of such a case.
