2. Smoking Marijuana has NO (Zero, none) benefit whatsoever. It does not cure anything, it does not help anything. However, it does impare your senses and causes severe long term harm. To Summarize: Benefits = 0, Dangers = Many. (Note the word SMOKING)

Actually a reputable doctor will tell you that marijuana has been proven to reduce fluid pressure in the eyes. (This is why stoners always have bloodshot eyes) For people who have glaucoma -- which is caused by swelling of the eyes -- marijuana helps immensely. On top of that is it about the best substance to counteract nausea out there. (This is why potheads get the munchies) Ask anybody who's ever gone through Chemotherapy how fun it is to throw up for about 12 hours straight.

3. Your arguement that Marijuana has never killed anyone is as pointless as saying that guns have never killed anyone. Of course it Marijuana never killed anyone. It's effects and how those effects effect you are what kills you. As I said it's like saying that guns have never killed anyone. Of course they haven't! Bullets kill people! (unless you throw the gun at a person). Same reasoning. Not persuading at all.

Technically an extreme force caused by the bullet killed them if you want to look at it that way. The difference in your argument is this: marijuana was not designed to kill people. Oh yes, if I push someone off a building and turn them into sidewalk pizza the defense isn't going to be swayed by the argument that it was in fact gravity and the sidewalk that killed them.

Ask any (reputable) medical doctor and they will tell you that it's dangerous. There is not a single good arguement for legalizing it. Not one. All arguements that are made seem to include some sort of logical fallacy, logical flaw, or just plain stupidity. If anyone has an ACTUAL arguement that doesn't sound like some stoner crybaby crying about how he wants to get stoned, I'll be glad to listen. Quit acting like 5 year olds. Just because you smoke pot and think you know everything doesn't make it so. Look at a reputable medical website for evidence on Marijuana or talk to an actual doctor to get the REAL facts about how it affects you and why it's illegal instead of your stoner friends.

Like I said, it has medical benefits, and they have been thoroughly documented. And although it does affect the brain the effects are not permanent; THC hangs around in the body, specifically in your fat cells, meaning that the long term effects are caused by your body burning fat. Once the THC has been burned from your body the effects dissipate. To be fair however scientists recently determined that habitual, heavy pot smokers typically exhibit underdevlopment and diminished activity in a part of the brain thought to be linked to IQ. (Specifically the two areas on either side of the brain that in Einstein's brain were about twice as big as most people's) I can't remember exactly what they classified "heavy" as, but it was sure as hell a lot more than a bowl a day.

I didn't want to read through the entire thread but I believe part of the reason why Ganja is illegal is because back in the days, cotton farmers saw HEMP plants as a threat to their business and so they lobbied to have Ganja made illegal.

You can hallucinate from pot. Albeit you need alot and very good stuff, but it is possible. The most likely way for it to hapen is for you to cook and then ingest it orally. Also some of the stronger strains (purple haze, blueberry etc.) have been known to cause hallucinigenic effects.

That must be why several states allow Medical Marijuana. That must be why we made Marinol(synthetic THC.. but it had weird side effects).

Cannabis is one of the best pain relievers there is. Someone also pointed out its benefits with chemo patients.

What about AIDS patients that completely lose their appetites? It's the best appetite stimulant there is.

I admit, it was not a smart thing to put in there because people like you would misinterpret what I said and start making accusations. So I appologize and admit it was a mistake. But that doesen't make any sense. Half the point of this discussion brings up the fact that the government should have no say. As long as I am not endangering anybody else, it should not be illegal. It doesen't make sense.

There is no logical reason why cannabis is against the law when alcohol and cigarettes are within the law.

Why would we restrict ourselves even more by arguing that no drug should be legal? That is completely opposite of this discussion.
